Visiting Lud's Church was an absolute delight! This hidden gem in the Peak District offers a unique and mystical experience. The towering rock formations covered in lush greenery create a mesmerizing atmosphere. It's a perfect spot for nature lovers, hikers, and history enthusiasts alike. Follow the satnav to the carkpark. It's free but in summer it will be full up. In summer, there are a couple of fields that charge £5 a day. It's a less than a half hour walk to the gorge. Follow the path up to the scout hut. If it's been raining, the path will be flooded, but you can take public access through the scout hut field. Follow the signs to luds Church. First, this will bring you to a large boulder on your right. Turn left here and go upwards. This leads to the gorge, which will be an opening on your right.

Very enjoyable short (approx 30 min) walk from the car Gradbach car park to Lud's Church. Hanging Stone is approx 20 min walk from Lud's Ch.When you park your car there is cafeteria open up until 4 pm with free toilets and it's located next to Gradbach Mill.

This is one of my favourite places in the Peak District. It is a mystic place with a very singular beauty. All that nature covering the walls of the chasm is just breathtaking. The entrance for the Lud's Church could be easily missed, as there are no actual signs at the entrance, but there are some wooden barriers, so look for them when you are walking on the path. The surrounding forest itself is very unique, seems from a fairy tale. It has plenty of trails to explore. We have spent 3 hours in this nature reserve, between Lud's Church and going up to the roaches and I have absolutely loved it.It is recommended to visit at the end of the day preferably during the week, as it is less crowded.Highly recommended.

Really cool place!! Very wet and muddy when we went, so best on a dry day. We did a loop that included the Roaches cliffs too which was a 4 hour hike - amazing views and easily combined with Lud's church too.

Really cool place to explore. Pretty muddy when we visited, so make sure you are ready for that. Lovely woodland around it as well. Managed to grab a space in the free car park arriving around 1430 (guessing the early birds had gone by then).

Visited this awesome chasm after almost two years. It's as mesmerising today as back then. If you set your navigation to Gradbach car park, then take a right onto the straight path following signs. You have to walk past the scouts camp through the rocky path, past the little bridge, up the wooded area and turn right. Follow any signposts. Such a lovely long walk that makes you feel a sense of accomplishment. Well worth a visit. Would recommend hiking boots, some gloves and a raincoat, a backpack with some water and a snack.

A lovely walk with lots of history. Walking through Lud's church feels magical, like you're in a fairytale. Some nice spots to stop and have lunch. I would recommend walking over the roaches (nearby) as well. We did on the way back and the dog loved the wind.
