George Street Hotel
After 18 days touring the UK, my stay at George Street was pure luxury! The room was beautiful; all of the details were nicer than they needed to be, from the lamps to the sink to the fixtures... The Air Conditioning worked great and the bed was comfortable. I had plenty of room and everything worked, from the TV to the shower. The in-room water and cookies were nice touches. It was a relief to be here after so many prior bad experiences elsewhere. The staff was SUPER friendly and accommodating. They were exceptionally polite and made me feel at home. The elevator was also nice to have after a long trip. The location was close to the bus station, restaurants, colleges, etc. I can't think of one critical thing to say. Everything was perfect and I HIGHLY recommend!

The George Hotel was in the best location we could have wished for - right in the heart of Oxford, only 5 minutes walk from the main shopping street and the Westgate Shopping Centre, and less than 5 minutes to some fantastic restaurants. The staff were very welcoming and helped us with any queries or requests quickly and efficiently. Our suite was very comfortable and the perfect size for our family. Before our stay were unsure about parking, knowing Oxford can be challenging, but parking at Pear Tree Park and Ride was easy and the bus dropped us off directly outside the hotel, so it was easier than parking in one of the car parks in the centre.A fantastic find of a hotel right in the centre of the city. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Lousy experience. We booked 5 nights at the George Street Hotel in Oxford for two people. The hotel is advertised both on booking and on their website as a 5* hotel. Our first surprise on arrival was the tiny front door which blended in with other premises on the street. The second was the total lack of hotel services (bar, restaurant, room service, concierge,...). A service more typical of a 2* hotel or a guesthouse. But the most incredible of all was when we were given our room and we found ourselves with a very small room IN THE BASEMENT WITH NO WINDOWS. Yes, as you hear, in the basement. UNBELIEVABLE. We believe that this not only exceeds our expectations of what a 5* hotel should be, but we believe that it is bordering on illegal because our room was a hideout, claustrophobic, with no fire safety measures and the only emergency exit was the same narrow staircase. The rest of the services were also pitiful, in four days they only cleaned the room once, the wifi stopped working. A real nightmare.

Traveling to Oxford's Open Days, we booked into the George Street Hotel for its convenient location and availability for my family. The hotel really is wonderfully well situated, seemingly around the corner from anything we might need, and an easy walking distance to most of the Colleges. The rooms were plush. Due to my booking late, we had basement windowless rooms, but they were so quiet and restful, with excellent air conditioning. But really the best part of the hotel was its tremendously warm and welcoming staff. The reception staff went above and beyond every time to assist us, taking the time to really converse calmly with us, and ensure we knew where to go or had what we needed. Housekeeping was also fantastic. Thank you to the St George owner and staff for a wonderful memory of our time there!

Ridiculous service here at George Street Hotel, Oxford.DON'T STAY HERE in you have a child. We've booked this hotel a few weeks ago for a double bed as our 3.5 years old really wants to check out Harry Potter experience in town. After arriving around 2pm today, the hotel told us the room is not ready and told us to leave the luggage at the reception area which was fine. After coming back to hotel to check-in at 10pm, the receptionist now told us that we need to pay extra to get a bigger room as the 3.5 years old would be against the fire code for staying in the same room with us (mom and dad). My 3.5 years old is exhausted after a long day and the receptionist didn't really care and made us pay extra to get another room to accommodate the less than 9 hours stay. We also told them we are leaving the next day at 7:30am.This is the first time we had this experience anywhere in the world with our 3.5 years old. We had no issue at all in London before coming to Oxford the week before. The receptionist at our London hotel even gave our little boy a lollipop when we check in and out and the room was smaller in size.Very tired now and upset as all they care is money not our child.

Sanj, this is Kenneth on my iPhone just seeing your reply. WOW, as a Owner and Director of your hotel, this is the kind of reply you give to a customer visiting your hotel?!? I am sure I am not the only one who has booked your hotel with a 2-3 years old and this is the feedback and attitude you give to your customers, comparing your rooms to a flight ticket, lol.Yes, I declined your upgrade to a family suite because I am not paying for an extra £$230 so whatever your front desk offered. We have a 3.5 years old and first time in town, where do you want us to stay? At the end, we paid an extra room for a few hour stay due to your LEGAL REQUIREMENT. We are not asking you the bend the rules but just staying for a few hours with a 3.5 years old, you didn't have to cause a scene. You also said I should be ashamed to post 1 star??? So you now own Google review as well??? Any customer can post whatever or however they feel if the service is not up to par which in this case, after reading your below 1 star review, no wonder you are being called out by name by many of your past customers.
