Oscar's Gelato

Excellent service and ice creams - lots of flavours and each one I've tried has been delicious! Highly recommend

Shop was very clean looking. However ever left disappointed, no prices available so had to ask prices the young lad serving could not be bothered opening his mouth to allow his voice to be heard, mumbling some prices.anyway went on to just ask for 2 cones and a waver pot. Cones were smallish but passable. My daughter got the waver pot that came with half a portion of chosen ice cream very disappointed. Given the lads lack of care I didn't bother saying anything as customer service felt the least of his concern. Lovely shop but definitely need to address lack of friendly service

My first visit, although my wife and kids had been a lot before for ice creams. After a wander around Portobello we went in for a coffee and cake for the adults and ice creams for the kids. Really lovely selection of ice creams and beautifully baked cakes.

We came to Oscar's for a treat, my sister has been before and enjoyed it. There is a good size selection of icecreams and they also do other desserts, cakes, teas and coffees. I enquired with the young lad before the counter if the icecream contained any eggs or nuts, he wasn't sure so he asked the lady and I don't think he understood what she was saying (I guess is the manager). She noticably rolled her eyes and pushed past him and came to serve me. It was a little uncomfortable and felt sorry for the lad who I guess was just new to the job. She checked and all was fine with the flavour I chose, I chose the biscoff icecream with the chocolate waffle cone. The scoop was generous with large chunks of delicious biscoff for £3, it's £2.50 for the normal cones. The shop is clean and spacious with plenty of seating, I would come again but the customer service needs improving so that's why I dropped some stars.

As summer has arrived, I was looking for the best and healthy gelato shop nearby, so we can take our children for a treat!We have finally found it! We visited Oscar's gelato and had a selection of ice cream and shakes and they all were excellent!!Service was really friendly, especially blond lady who served us. Shop has a good lay out and great selection.Highly recommended!

Good luck trying to get served here! We've been going here since it opened and every time it's the same. Only one member of staff to do everything. Customers who come in to to take ice creams away get priority. Today was one time too many. 3 separate groups of people came after we did and were served, whilst we sat at a table, being ignored. We left, after informing the girl of what had happened. We went to Luca's in Morningside, where we're always assured of good service. Not good enough, Oscar's!

Amazing Biscoff ice cream cake! I will defo order a whole one soon !!Update 25/12/2022: I bought the whole one for Christmas... absolutely delicious! And so cheap!

Disappointed with our visit to Oscar’s Gelato. The shop is clean and modern. They have a good selection of ice cream and they have other desserts for sitting in but unfortunately we arrived too late for sitting in. Although I don’t remember reading anything that mentions that they close their sit in facilities earlier. We’ve also tried to go here at around 8pm, thinking that it closes at 9pm but it was already closed. So they are either closing early or the info on Google is wrong. Anyway on this visit we got a couple of double cones and a freakshake. The ice creams were ok. Nothing particularly special. I thought it was difficult to distinguish the flavours. The shake was fine but had better. The worst part was the service. The lady that served us was ok, she was clearly tired at the end of her shift but I feel that she could’ve put in more effort to be friendlier. The other young lass was shockingly rude. She just stood there at the back of the shop with a mop in her hand with a miserable face on. The face alone was rude, she didn’t need to say anything. She didn’t even help her colleague serve customers. She just stood there absolutely hating life! When a customer and their young child asked to use their toilet she just gave a face, not even a hint of a smile or nice response. It really puts you off visiting if you have staff like this.

On the way back from the Portobello Beach to our bus stop we saw somebody eating an ice cream and looked for the source and found Oscar’s Gelato. What a find!!! Great decor, friendly staff but most importantly: excellent ice cream, fantastic cakes and very good coffee. If you don’t stumble across it, go and look for it. Highly recommended.

Best ice cream ever! Peach and raspberry was my favourite. We also had a strawberry and a ricotta and pear which was stunningly good. All very natural flavours and very fresh and creamy. Shop is cute too.
