QA Hospital Eye Department

I am a very special case having trouble on my eyes effecting my mental health and al’ my activities, i was in queue in another city for around two years after i moved to Portsmouth, Derby Road GP refer me too late after calling ans chasing them for 3 months after i start with Ophthalmology dep in Queen Alexandra i tried everything in the world to find any appointment to just continue what i have started before not even to check up me or start again, all i need is anesthésia check yp and get in the operation but unfortunately it’s a dream they will not do it until’ i suffer more more more

Long wait times. GP referred me half a year ago, they haven't even looked at the referral. When I try to call I'm on hold for ages, up to an hour. Dreadful place.

I have had two cataract surgery's and two cornea grafts the staff are very kind and pleasant

Excellent experience with my mum over a number of appointments for different eye conditions - can’t fault them and everyone kind, open and caring

An appointment was sent for my mother to attend an eye appt that is not possible, so trying to change the date. Rang them 8 times in one day and cut off 8 times! Tried ringing direct ext number and operator has tried. Nightmare, still not been able to change appointment, but they advertise the costs of missing appointments to the NHS. Ridiculous situation and process.

Impossible to overstate the excellent level of service of the QA Eye Department.
