Ballyhornan Bay Beach
Nature's best - rugged, wild, accessible, seasonal colour bursts - flora, fauna, coastal. Take litter and dog foul home and let others enjoy this part of the Lecale Way too.

Ballyhornan beach is one of the best long beaches for a walk in south down .It’s based 6 miles from the town of Downpatrick it’s beautiful when in the warm days the sun is out it’s scenery looking into the Irish Sea is breath taking .If you had a boat close to it you are looking right across at the Isle of Man and yes a lot of tv crews have filmed there including Jimmy Nesbitt not to say other famous actors also . Just up the corner is the cable bar for a wee pint of Guinness and nice cool one st that on warm day or a beer yes the Craig with the friendly local people . If your a tourist and like to relax come to this area and see for your self the splendid coast line from Strangford just of the ferry along the coast it’s 10 minutes drive and yes the Cuan in Strangford another nice bar restaurant and good place to stay overnight . Buses from the area are about 4 a day to Downpatrick the town of st Patrick’s grave and st Bridget another Irish saint so for that also if you come from Belfast there it’s 45 minutes drive through Downpatrick . Also it’s a 15 minutes walk to the famous race track Bishopscourt for motor bikes and car racing in the summer so hope this was help to others reading my reviews good luck and enjoy our lovely beach of Ballyhornan and Strangford village .

I enjoyed a lovely walk along Ballyhornan Bay Beach with fantastic views. I walked from one end to the other. The rock formations were amazing, a lovely place to spend time for a leisurely walk also you could have a picnic on the beachNo

Ballyhornan Bay Beach
Lovely, fairly remote, beach. It's possible to walk to Gun's Island at low tide, or swim / paddle board / kayak etc at other times. The whole shore line, especially to the South, is beautiful and worth exploring.

Very lovely beach. Wide and deep. Brilliant views from the coast. Small playground by the car park. Car park it self is small with spaces for maybe 15 cars but more parking opportunities along the ciast. Clean, tidy, well kept. There's a wee coffee trailer at the car park but it closes at 5pm and very often they only take cash. In all very good place to chill and relax if the weather permits.
