Barley Wood House

I got married here last month and it was such a magical weekend. The staff here went above and beyond to help and make everything go swimmingly. They also must have sorted out the weather as it was such a nice day! The grounds look absolutely stunning and everyone commented on the ace venue. Having some rooms on site was lovely and really felt at home for the weekend. I ant to do it all over again. Thanks again xx

We got married here in June 2018. It was truly magical! The venue is stunning, straight out of a fairytale and the staff do everything to make things go smoothly! It’s such a welcoming friendly place you straight away feel at home. You’re allowed to bring in all your own suppliers so you can truly make the day unique! Everything was perfect on the day and we couldn’t have been happier!

We got married at Barley Wood in August 2017 and it was the most incredible day!We first visited on a grey January day and it instantly felt special (despite the drizzle!)The venue has everything you could need. Beautiful rooms and bedrooms, stunning grounds and the most helpful, flexible and welcoming staff! Amie and the team really helped us make the venue ours for the weekend and went above and beyond to make things work.We hope we can continue visiting forever!

Barley wood is a stunning venue with so much space to decorate so you can really make it personal to you. The summer house was perfect for our outdoor ceremony and the grounds provide a beautiful backdrop for photos. Having exclusive use for the weekend meant we could spend a couple of nights with our close family on site with us.The staff are really lovely and welcoming, however unfortunately we personally found the communication to be poor. We booked a dry hire venue specifically so we could take ownership of the planning process but we were told when we booked that we would have a dedicated contact on hand for questions and to assist with planning. Unfortunately we did not feel supported in that process which made the experience a lot more stressful than it needed to be. The venue was slow to respond to our questions and some emails weren’t replied to at all (even days before the wedding). One of our suppliers also weren’t able to get in contact with them.The venue really is stunning and we had the best day but better support and communication from the venue is needed to get to 5 stars.

Wonderful place to have a wedding. The grounds are magnificent. Room for a drinks reception outside with a view only nature could produce. We had a steel band creating Caribbean rhythms in the middle of Somerset. The food was amazing. The staff friendly and helpful. The reception hall was big enough for a 100 dinner and dance. Had an amazing time. Highly recommended.

We had an absolutely amazing wedding at Barley Wood in July. The venue is just perfect for a lovely ceremony and party. It has lots of different areas for entertaining throughout the day, all which seem to fit in perfectly. The ceremony area is lovely, the dining hall is a great space for the wedding breakfast, then the party area at the front of the house is the perfect way to end the night. There's a terrace for the sunset with BBQ and firepit. It really does have everything. Big thanks to Lauren who managed everything so well for us, you'll be well looked after in the run up. Highly recommended Barley Wood - so many of our guests commented on what an amazing venue it is.

We had our wedding in Barley Wood in May this year (2017) and it was absolutely wonderful!The staff was SUPER helpful and accommodating from day one (when we visited the venue for the 1st time), throughout all the planning and on the weekend of the wedding.We went to see the venue for the first time in July and Gary showed us around and explained us how the venue works... we got the venue solely for us, for the whole weekend! ceremony and party in the same location, and 2 whole days to enjoy, options for inside or outside, no corkage and no set providers (we could have whoever we wanted, or even cook ourselves, which we did on day 2 with a BBQ for close friends and family ). All of this in a breathtaking location, wonderful grounds and beautiful and spacious house (which would accommodate our family for the whole weekend).... We decided on it almost instantly as we were so taken with it, and we don't regret it a bit! We had such a good time there, the guests loved it, and our family -who stayed in site with us for the weekend- couldn't be happier! (very important as most of them travelled from overseas to join us)...If you are looking for a beautiful and versatile venue in the country side, where you can be free to really create your event the way you wanted, I would definitely recommend you have a look at Barley Wood! You won't be disappointed... and once if decide on it, you'll have a lovely, hardworking & helpful team behind you, and a gorgeous venue... If we could, we would do it all over again!

Stunning venue!!!! I was lucky enough to document Emily and Ben's special day here last year. The house is gorgeous and the grounds even nicer!! Be sure to get some garden games set up on the lawn. A ceremony outside is a must too. So romantic and specacular for us photographers. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

My husband and I had our 70th birthday celebration at Barley Wood and the venue was just perfect. Our children, grandchildren and siblings (25 of us) were able to stay for the weekend in the lovely bedrooms and about 40 friends came for the Saturday afternoon and evening. We used the downstairs room and spacious hall (with log fire) for the Saturday afternoon and then had a formal meal in the large upstairs room. The grounds were an added bonus, guests were able to wander outside and enjoy the fantastic views.Lauren from Barley Wood was great, really welcoming and helpful and made sure we had everything we needed as did Connor the caretaker. We thoroughly recommend Barley Wood as a venue.And if you are looking for a caterer then Elaine’s Kitchen from Blagdon are totally brilliant.
