Fordbank House

This was an excellent accommodation. Food was very good, bed's, never slept in better, beautiful surroundings.

Lovely place with brilliant rooms and has a magnificent view. Very comfy stay, top quality food and service and good location. Would stay again and recommend to others.

Spent a blissful 2 nights May 2023.Fordbank House was beautiful and very well organised.The owners were very knowledgeable about the area and recommended great places to eat and visit.The facilities were good and the breakfast excellent.Will definitely book again and would recommend it to anyone visiting the area.

We stayed here 4 nights in this ‘Bed and breakfast’ Fordbank House near Wigtown.The landlady gave us a scold because we leaved the towels on the bathroomfloor to get clean ones (because they do not dry, because she does not heat the first floor in May while the evening temperature outside was not higher than about 12 degrees Celsius, an other couple told us about the cold in their room in the evening and in the morning), and she told us “She is not a hotel” and she normally gives you clean towels once a week.She gives no other roomservice too: not clear away your waste (nor she tells where you can leaf it yourself); not gives you everyday clean cups for your coffee/thee (nor you have the possibility on your room to clean and dry them yourself); does not clean your room and bathroom.And: the rooms have no wardrobe for hanging your clean clothes and used clothes you wear the next day (only 2 hooks on the door for your (wet) jackets and your clothes, with just 4 coathangers); to little light to read in the bed; a dressing table that is useless because it is much to dark (no light there); no chair(s) in the room (enough room therefore, if you are a little practical host), nor there is a guest lounge, so you have to seat on your bed; the breakfast is good but average; she does not give you everyday some biscuits, just the first day; the bathrooms of all guestrooms are very very small (the only thing she can’t help).
