Redmires Camp Wood
Great open field and woodland walks. Good parking. Close to play areas. Dog friendly if your dog likes other dogs and children. Popular with professional dog walkers. The wartime camp ruins are interesting. Pub right on the doorstep.

Very peaceful place just past the outskirts of the residential area. Great for exploring, hiking, dog walking, relaxation.

Plantation is very important. Especially, more important at Sheffield. Because Sheffield has large land to need to plant trees for Climate Change.

Always pleasant for a stroll - ideal for people who can't manage hills or narrow paths. Close to parking areas too.

Very peaceful, very flat area for a walk, though the path through the woodland is alittle narrow, muddy and uneven at parts.-Alittle history about this place; you might see long concrete foundations in parts of the trail, that's because those were barracks and this place used to be a Prisoners Of War camp for German and some Italian soldiers during WW2.A lot of the Germans were allowed to roam around the surrounding areas, and there are even accounts that the German submariner officer being held there would be allowed to visit the Three Merry Lads pub down the road.

Interesting place and you get an idea of the area covered. If you do go solid footwear and watch where you step, on our visit millions of flies.

Settling down after the last commercial felling was completed. Now being maintained as a publically accessible space.

Lovely walk from the Carpark, where they have football pitches onto a path which goes behind the plantation. You join the road at the end and from there you can walk to Wymingbrook, or further up to Redmires dams or turn right down the road which takes you back to where you started from in circle just long enough for us.
