Had a great walk and a cuppa with my sister.I am going again tomorrow to meet up with old friends . Good half way point to take some exercise and enjoy a catch up.

National Trust property so lovely gardens and house. Cafe attached is pricy but normal for the NT. We had toasted sourdough ham and smoked Cheddar sandwiches. Cream tea, iced chocolate. Service is fast and efficient considering its busy and food is very good and tasty. Overall very good

Plenty of room to sit indoors and outdoors including an upstairs area where dogs can accompany their guardians. The food offering includes great vegan and gf options. The prices are reasonable too. If you sit outside there are bowls of water for dogs. Wild birds will be visiting the tables for scraps. In the summer parasols shade the outdoor tables. Accessible as so much is on one level.

I did not feel an aspiration to quality food in this cafe. There are very few options, especially for gluten-free diets. And so few organic offer, when the NT's mission is to preserve nature and its soil...

The bread used for sandwiches was stale. We returned 1 pack & complained with no offer of recompense. Also, the slice of chocolate cake was dry & tasteless.Improvement needed before we eat there again being that we reside nearby.

We were looking for a cream tea. I don't eat eggs, so asked if any scones were un brushed. They were all covered in egg, so I thought cake and cream would be a good substitute. The vegan chocolate brownie was absolutely fab, plus some cream...to die for. What a brilliant idea. Why suffer the slings and arrows of scones and jam.

Excellent value, plenty of places to sit, inside or outside. Good choice of food and cakes. Highly recommended.
