Very good and friendly service. Room was very tired looking, tiny bathroom. Old building so no lift. Was on 3rd floor. Kids counted 55 steps and believe me it was steep and when approaching 3rd floor i we were almost crawling upstairs.Literally round the corner from around 5-6 top restaurants and Paddington station.

This place looked nothing like the photos on Booking. When I first opened the door it slammed into the wall next to the shower, and my backpack hit the door to the bathroom just trying to enter the room (bathroom door immediately on the right and closed, and bedroom door straight ahead and closed. The sheets were stained, the room was old and had damage, the bedroom door (unlike the bathroom door) would not remain open, yet there was no door stopper. Would not recommend.

Great value hotel in a fantastic location close to Hyde Park. We were fortunate enough to be in a room that overlooked the leafy and peaceful Norfolk Square, so we were not disturbed by the rumble of the trains at nearby Paddington Station. The room and furniture were basic and worn but sufficiently clean. The bathroom, which my son described as ‘cosy’, was very small but immaculately clean. A problem with our shower was sorted quickly and efficiently by friendly staff. I cannot comment about the breakfast as we did not eat at the hotel. We stayed there during a period when the weather was sweltering. The windows don’t open fully (understandably for safety reasons), but a large fan was provided when we asked for one. We would not have been able to sleep without it. Wi-fi worked well. There are no lifts.

My Mother and I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights and I would not stay again because we found bed bugs after one night. They moved us to a different room but offered no other compensation other than a free breakfast for the next 2 days. When leaving and asked for compensation the person at the desk said this is going to be the new normal due to climate change and hotels can't do a lot about it." We now believe the bed bugs have come home with us and this will be a lengthy process to deal with.Really disappointed with the service

We stayed at the Shakespeare on our trip to London and it was a perfectly fine hotel! If you’re just looking for a place to sleep and shower this is a fine option and the location is also really good! the only complaint we have is that the walls are a little thin so you can hear people in the other rooms but this didn’t really bother us too much.

Warning!!Do not stay at this hotel!! It is absolutely the worst hotel we have stayed at. Basically non-existent breakfast, there is a smell of mold and rubbish in the hall. Our room had a large hole in some sort of ventilation pipe. The worst part was that our purchased chocolate was eaten by rats during the last night.
