I was visiting the area as my niece and nephew live locally. What a lovely place to take them to for a bit of a treat. We will definitely be back.

Where do you even begin to describe the unpleasantness of the experience? Having been to a Ginger and Pickels before and having had a bad experience, I wanted to give this one a try. Having been a lovely place to have breakfast when it was the Chestnut cafe some time ago, when entering the premises you are hit by atrocious wallpaper and ugly pink frames. Ok, you could say that this is just personal taste. But what isn´t, is the lack of customer service, having to ask for a menu, wanting afternoon tea and being met with an incredulous stare. We went for the cream tea, which was generic but ok. I feel deeply annoyed by the lack of customer service and understanding their needs, by the state of their toilet and the general lack of appreciation of a fine old building in terms of decor. Just an awful experience that doesn´t come cheap either.We will definitely not return.

I've been in a few times when I've been on my bike. Food is always excellent and it makes for a great lunch and some treats to take home. Welcome is always friendly and its a pleasure to visit.

Great cakes and assortment of breakfast, brunch and lunch items. Teas and coffees were fantastic. Unfortunately the only thing letting them down was service, they must have been short staffed on the day we visited.Well worth a visit here.

Busy cafe in the middle of Tarporley, but despite being rushed off their feet service was friendly and kind. Especially the lady with her arm in a cast/support. Good food and coffee.

Having read the many 5 star reviews we decided to have lunch here but as first timers we were not sure of the cafe ordering policy. No greeting when we arrived and on sitting down a lady came over and silently threw 2 menus on the table ( 3 of us). We waited a while after deciding and as nobody came I went to the counter to order. The lady was pleasant but the staff seemed more interested in not seeing customers! Our lunch arrived very quickly and the food was good but underwhelming for the cost £12 cobb salad £11 prawn sandwich!!I did notice that regulars seemed to receive a welcoming service unlike the unfriendly attitude extended to us.

Ginger and pickles, tarporley, has really nice staff who, even when super busy, try and go the extra mile to make things good. The food is excellent, especially the bread which you can tell is locally made and really nice - doorstop toast really is nicely thick! Great service, thanks!
