North London Van & Truck Hire

If there was an option for 0 stars, this company would be awarded with it. I hired a Van under the same registered company over a year ago under different management and the experience was pleasant and seamless. This time around, I hired a Van on the 9th of August and I am still waiting for my £200 deposit back nearly 6 weeks on and given endless excuses and empty promises by various individuals at this shambolic business. At the point of hire I was informed by the gentleman at the office in Enfield that it would take a minimum of 2 weeks for the funds to be released in the form of a pre-authorisation as a standard procedure and then it would be down to the bank to release the funds back into my account. I patiently waited for just under 4 weeks and since then, I have been pushed from pillar to post with communications over the phone and visits to the office to find out when I can expect my money back. I spoke to Donna initially and was advised that she would call me back once she got to the bottom of the case and never did. I then spoke to John a couple of days later chasing up Donna's non existent call back and was advised that he would need to speak to her as she is the one that deals with the payments. Conveniently she was away for the rest of the week and not back until the following Monday. This time passed by and I still didn't get a call back or the funds back into my account. Some more time passed by and I then visited the office and spoke to the same gentleman who hired me the van. He told me that he doesn't deal with the payment side of things and only sells vans and that he would need to take my details down and then pass it onto Scott who I was told is the MD of the business and would look into the missing deposit when he arrived into the office the same day. I gave it some time and after no communication I called later that day, spoke to John again and was advised that Scott was on site but busy so he couldn't take my call. John advised that Scott would call me once he had a chance but never did. I called again and John advised that Scott had a family emergency and had to pick his kids up from school but I would get a call when he had a chance. This was a week ago and I am still waiting for a call and my money back. I have never come across such an unprofessional company in my life. They are very quick to remove the money from your bank account but an utter joke when it comes to customer service and providing me with answers. They have fobbed me off so many times explaining that it is down to the bank to the release the funds however I'm not buying this rubbish excuse as I have spoken to my bank and they have no evidence of any funds that have been released from North London Van & Truck Hire's side. John even had the audacity to scoff at me on one occasion criticising me with who I bank with explaining that my card issuer is a 5h1tty little bank who take ages to return the deposit money back rather than helping me and providing adequate customer service skills. At the time of hire, I also received no paperwork which I thought was strange. If you are considering hiring a van from this company, do yourself a favour and don't bother unless you want a similar experience and be £200 down for weeks on end.

John is old school and fair. My husband forgot to fill the van before return, John charged it on our deposit. That's fair because we knew the scoreHis vans are reliable and we have hired them on many occasions. We will go back but this time I will nag DH to fill the tank.

Vans are knackered and broken. My hand break never worked. Damage is over charge for and never proven. Emails querying this never answered. Absolute shafting. AVOIDEdited following response: handbrake didn't work causing the van to roll and break wing mirror. I have video evidence. Company never responded to emails on this issue and just deducted £200 from my credit card. No proof of repair. No invoice for the cost.

I booked one of the vans for hire, perfect for what we needed.The service we received was honest and straight forward, easy to deal with and quick service.The price was excellent for the van we hired, which was clean and tidy. Hired van with my father for the weekend. Upon return of the van, they told us everything was fine and we'd get the full deposit back. On receipt of our deposit we noticed we had been charged £6. After enquiring, we were told this was for not refueling the van to the level it was previously. They told us the process is based on 'expected mileage', which, as all drivers know, fluctuates depending on the environment the vehicle is driven in (urban, extra urban etc.). We took pictures of where the fuel needle was before and after our usage (if anything showing an increase in fuel) and they told us they didn't care. £6 is peanuts but it's awful customer service and definitely won't use them again. No trust in their service what-so-ever.

I can’t believe I’ve never left a review. I’ve been using this company for over 15 years to supply me with vans. As a company we hired fairly regularly from them, now having sold my business I hire as and when I need a van.Every vehicle I’ve ever hired has been spotless and well maintained, never a puncture let alone a breakdown.A good, honest locally run family business that you should definitely try. I never use anyone else, great service keep it up.

Dont ever use as i am waiting for my deposit back and they even send a picture to show they have refunded you but when you check bank accpunt nothing and nothing even next day. Do you think its right to not be able to feed your disabled son or pay bills because they still got my £200 deposit????, they quick enough to take your money but not quick enough to return your money....so save time i say dont use this company at all

Avoid this company! Very bad liars and kept fobbing me off. Hired a Luton van end of august for 2 days and was told my deposit money will take up to 2 to 4 weeks. After waiting up to the end of 4 weeks I rung again and explained I needed the money because I have just moved, then was told they have process the deposit money and now it will take up to 10 working days to get in my bank! Which they never said that at the beginning. Then after the 10 working days I had to ring again in the morning and ask where the money was then was told they’ll process it now normally take 2 hours then rung at 12 and had to ring 5-6 times to get through then was told they done it and will take up to 5 working days but on the picture what was texted to me was the deposit receipt and had a time at just before 12 when they processed it. Throughout the whole process of getting my deposit money back they told me I’ll ring you back and they never did! In the end I finally got my deposit money back mid October!. I would strongly recommend going somewhere else to hire a van. Unless you want to fight for your money back! And constantly ring for it.
