The receptionist was very helpful, friendly, patient and careful. I waited in the hospital to see the doctor for an urgent about 4 hours. And the average of waiting is 2.5 hours, and i cannot book an appointment for my situation. Which make it very bad experience, and it seems that the management of the hospital is absolutely ridiculous. The doctor was nice, but he was trying to finish as early as possible. He made some mistakes in a letter about my situation, but overall, he was alright. I will never come again to the hospital, except if i don’t have a choice. And i prefer to book an appointment with unity health, since they have much better service.

What can I say. Waiting for 2 hours after being told there was a 3 and a half hour wait even though told by 111 to go urgently to A and E. no communication whatsoever from a member of the staff. Then told I had to wait 5and a half hours when I asked?I am sure I was put last on the list on purpose by your staff as I saw lots of patients who came after me seen first. My rating a well deserved 0.

I'm currently an 'in patient' admitted 4 days ago. I'm supposed to have pressure sores dressed and be rolled to relieve the pressure, but neither has happened for 2 days. I asked for a bowl of water to have a wash at 9am today and still waiting now 9:05pm. All day, health care assistants are stood around the nurse station doing absolutely nothing! I just wish they'd smile when they actually come into the bay and maybe speak to patients. That's difficult as most of them don't speak English well

Too many patients, I’m sure some of the issues could go to a doctor. 1 hour 20 minutes and no ambulance turned up my husband with chest/heart pains and agony as I had no signal. Eventually I took him when I got the missed calls.By the time he got there, the episode was subsiding and he underplays things. I know from being a first aider that it was serious. If you need a hospital, find your own way of getting there, when we arrived, there were two paramedics stood doing nothing. He ended up coming home as the wait time was over 8 hours. In the end he went to a different hospital, LGI with much quicker service. After a horribly worrying night.

I need to tell everyone I had an extremely terrible terrible experience in A E department in York hospital. They told me I need to wait for 12 hours to see the doctor, and I waited for 12 hours, but then they told me I need to go to another place to see a GP. ..I wanted to leave twice, but the nurse encouraged me to wait. This is why I was waiting there with my illness !!!when i was told I need to go to somewhere else to see a GP after waiting there for 12 hours, I felt really angry.Later on, I rang A E department and asked them why did they refer me to another GP, and whats the point of me staying in the AE for 12 hours if I can see another GP? However, they did not explain very clearly. The woman picking up my phone was extremely unfriendly and very impatient. She even threaten me asking 'do you want me to get rid of your name from the waiting list'? This makes me really really sad.How can you treat patients like this? You let us wait for 12 + hours, and then you allocate us to somewhere else, with a rude and impatient attitude??? I said I want to speak to their manager, and she said they do not hv a manager. Are you kidding me? you do not hv a manager???I think they are discriminating me, since I am not British.I hv been to AE service in other cities, York is the worst worst one. I really do not want to go there again.I do hope York hospital can hire some nicer staff to look after patients. And do not lie to patients about the waiting hours.Updated: I hv waited for 20 hours now, still hvnot been seen by the doctor. The nurse told me there are 8 people before me, (at around 7am in the morning), and now it is 11.30am...

Abysmal from top to bottom. Even the guy on main reception is completely clueless, disinterested, and rude, and the same goes for 90% of the rest of them. To think, these people believe they deserve a pay rise. NHS the envy of the world? Don't make me laugh.

Clearly understaffed. The new A&E dept didn’t make way for any of the changes that have clearly been relayed by CQC. Sat here now and still waiting (7.5 hours to be precise) and Christ knows how much longer we will have to wait for someone who is in excruciating pain with their back. Was given codeine 6.5 hours ago, no one has checked if he requires anymore pain relief - been up to reception 3 times to be told he’s next, which he clearly, is not.

Directly relating to gynaecology, 2 years ago I had my laparoscopy to diagnose my endometriosis. Stage 3 I was found to be at and this was after 6 years of symptoms. Symptoms I didn’t have prior to my c-section in 2016. I was handed over to a consultant in York that just didn’t understand. this person wanted me to go through induced menopause but I have a secondary illness this would have made me even more sick. I declined when I realised what she meant by this medication (an implant in my stomach to bring me into menopause). I asked for an IUD fitting. Instead of booking me in for an IUD the person booked me for a hysteroscopy. I was handed the consent form when I arrived at reception. When I challenged the consultant she said “well we won’t do it then.” While she had a secondary copy of the consent form on her desk. She never spoke of this hysteroscopy at any prior appointment. She said we will review in 6 months while my husband sat at my side listening. I then recieved a letter in the post saying discharged due to declining an IUD. She never booked an IUD fitting. She just wanted to waste nhs money on a procedure I didn’t need. Luckily my GP listened to what took place and referred me elsewhere. I’m now having my endometriosis removed. Something York gynaecology should have done a year ago. they also failed to acknowledge I had bowel endometriosis symptoms. Something my new consultant is having to check via MRI scans. I don’t recommend the Gynaecologists unit at York for endometriosis treatments. It’s all about doing it their way and booking appointments for their own benefit wasting tax payers money. York need to overhaul the gynea teams and put in place measures that benefit the patients it sees. Other than that can’t praise York enough especially the children’s ward.

If I could rate zero I would. I had called 111 and booked into urgent care for a horrible fever and swollen throat. I had all of the symptoms of strep A. Once being seen by a doctor she simply took my BP and pulse ox took my temp and looked at my throat and from that alone told me I had no strep throat. My symptoms have persisted for a week and only upon recieving private care I found out I have had strep throat the entire time and could have been treated with antibiotics from the second day of symptoms. I find the level of care I received deeply negligent and irresponsible. I have never cried of hopelessness leaving a medical appointment until this appointment!!
