Delighted with Ben's mobile sawmilling service! Had him at my place for 2 days to convert some Douglas Fir logs into as much quarter sawn timber as possible. Ben worked very hard (I had to persuade him to take breaks!), with great accuracy and obvious expertise. I acted as his labourer and tried desperately hard not to get in the way or slow him down too much!A hybrid quarter sawing technique was used which is faster than traditional quarter sawing and with a little less waste. 75% of the 105mm x 38mm deck boards ended up with grain orientation from 45 to 90 degrees, which in my estimation is 'vertical' enough to count as quarter sawn.Ben was easy company and happy to share some of his knowledge with me. In all, a remarkably good value and high quality service. Could not be more pleased!The photos show him in action and about 1000m of the sawn timber produced in 2 days.

Brilliant service, the guys came out with the mobile sawmill and cut a 21ft length of seriously tough (& heavy) reclaimed Jarrah for us. The personalisation was great, it was all cut to what sizes we wanted for our furniture making use.The service & prices are so good that we’ve also bought 2 bundles of mixed off cuts for other garden uses.We will definitely be back to Moore Timber Co.
