The staff have always been welcoming, friendly and helpful. The breakfasts are excellent.Location is idyllic with some wonderful walking routes, and of course it’s right beside Dryburgh Abbey and the River Tweed.

Dryburgh Abbey Hotel
The hotel is in the middle of nowhere (except for the Abbey of course) the narrow winding roads to get to it seem to go on forever but the lovely building is a welcome sight in the end. Right next to the River Tweed, there are some nice walks to do around the vicinity as well as visiting the Abbey which is Historic Scotland maintained so does cost (but I personally do not begrudge this). The hotel is pleasant and the staff are friendly. There are parts that are a bit tired and could do with some superficial maintenance which could elevate it to a really lovely place. The bed was huge and comfortable in a very nicely sized room. The area is quiet and made for a nice little get away.

I had the worst experience with Dryburgh Abbey on Oct 6 night. The room was full of dust in the air. I don’t even have allergies but I woke up with a headache and sore throat,With running nose cold and cough.I asked the receptionist to change my room - she said they were fully booked and refused to change the room, I then asked in the morning for any allergy relief medication. They did not have it. So I had to go out in the rain while being sick to get it. Then they said they had ‘fixed the room’. But they had just sprayed room freshener. It was again suffocating and I got sick because of staying in the room. They have a Very beautiful property. However my room was not clean.I had to take my Saturday as rest day to recover and couldn’t do my touristy activities because of them. They need a health inspection from the Government and shouldn’t be allowed to function without proper sanitation. It’s a public health hazard.

A beautiful building from the outside but so glad we only booked for one night. The bedroom was adequate but the bathroom was unfortunately in need of a good clean. The lounge area was basic and depressing, the food just ok and the staff, though not rude, were not overly welcoming.

We stayed for 4 nights with our 3 dogs and loved it. It was fantastic to be able to bring our 3 small dogs with us as so many hotels will only let you bring 2 dogs. The hotel was brilliant, far better than we ever expected. The staff were so friendly and the food amazing. Great walks direct from the hotel, plenty of bins for pooh and even a hose to wash the dogs if need be before entering, can’t rate this hotel high enough. A massive thank you to everyone at the hotel for a truly relaxing few days.

It's true that it's in the middle of nowhere, but I think that's where its charm lies. You can see the Abbey from the hotel and even walk down to the Tweed River. The scenery is very beautiful, very peaceful and perhaps the most beautiful thing about it. It is true that it could do with a bit of renovation, but it is still very enjoyable. The staff, especially the breakfast lady, is very friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend it.

It's a really nice place with beautiful surroundings. Staff are very helpful and friendly with a willingness to go that extra mile.Good food and drinks selection.Pet friendly. Our Cocker Spaniel settled in well and made her self right at home. Our room was well set out ! the only downside for us was the TV in our room was very small!

Unbeatable location. Lovely building with some mod cons. Relaxing guest lounges. Good value for money but not luxurious. Nice dinner at a reasonable price but breakfast very budget-like.
