Hedgehog Bookshop

We come to Penrith once a year and always pay a visit here to pick up a book or two for our daughter and sometimes for us. There are some treats for young and old within, accompanied with friendly, helpful service. A nice independent bookstore, which is something that has become all too hard to find in recent years.

Really great selection of books for adults, you will find several books you want to read across many genres. The small size of the shop is almost a strength because you have a lot of choice, but you are not overwhelmed by options. Also children's books downstairs.I've not been in that many bookshops, but this is easily the best one I've been in.

I do like visiting The Hedgehog Bookshop. If whatever I want isn't on the shelves, it never seems too much trouble for it to be ordered in.Do I mind waiting for an ordered book to arrive, no!On occasion; I emerge with a book or two more than I intended buying, so I do succumb to its temptations.Staff are friendly and helpful.This bookshop is an excellent reason for making the effort to visit the high street.

Bought 3 books here while away on holiday, lovely little place and has a great selection of good books from all different genres for the whole family. There is even more books upstairs as well.

I live in Dorset and wanted to buy a local Cumbrian book, boughtover the phone, received shortly afterwards, excellent friendly service.

A beautiful little book shop and the lady was friendly and polite.We purchased two books (both signed versions) and a book mark. I was very happy with this shop and strongly suggest it.

Fabulous! Small in size, but huge when it comes to customer service.A quirky building with a twisting staircase takes you to the adult non-fiction and fiction books on the first floor. There's creaking floorboards and comfy seating to greet you, and you can browse at leisure.Staff are knowledgeable, so if you're wanting to try a new author just tell them which books you've enjoyed and they're likely to pick-out something that will appeal. They're also super-efficient at ordering anything they don't stock in record time. Great selection of children's books on the ground floor, and the team go out of their way to offer younger readers a warm welcome.Hedgehog Bookshop is what shopping local is all about. Perfect!
