We had a wonderful two night stay here midweek. Food was first class. The service was outstanding. All the staff were extremely helpful - we enjoyed the three mile walk explained in the leaflet, which could be found in the bar or in the rooms. Would recommend this country pub without reservation.

This was such a lovely experience! We came for an early evening meal on a bank holiday weekend. The front of house lady (Ramana? Sorry if that’s not correct) was absolutely lovely and all staff were well trained and attentive. The food was exceptional, and having eaten from the A La Carte menu this time, we will be sure to try the 6 course taster on our next visit. Extremely enjoyable meal.

This was our second visit, we went to a seafood tasting menu. The food was incredible, I would highly recommend it. Every course was a taste sensation. Service is excellent and its dog friendly. It was so good we have booked again for their next tasting evening.

An absolute gem, nestled in the heart of a charming village. Our party of 13 had the pleasure of staying this weekend. The pub is just lovely and the rooms are simply gorgeous.Comfortable super king beds and exquisite bathrooms complete with Molton Brown toiletries and robes. The food was just delicious. We chose from the a la carte menu on the Friday and on the Saturday we were treated to the Tasting Menu, complete with accompanying wine flight. The chef took time to discuss the menu with us to ensure that our group's wide ranging dietary requirements were accommodated. The service was fabulous.Nothing was too much trouble and we felt that everyone went above and beyond to make our stay special.Thank you so much for a wonderful weekend. We just loved it.We will be back.

We were amazed at this pub. Stroke of luck we got in for a Sunday dinner booking late but what a treat. Great food, extremely warm welcome and their own ale brewed on site was delicious. This isn’t a cheap option for food as it’s in the higher priced spectrum but in my view worth the money.Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this place for food in this beautiful part of the country. Worth a trip out!

Went for a Sunday roast. Stunning location, a very charming village. The decor is a bit confused throughout, alternating from rustic and cosy to minimalist, cold wine-bar ascetic. Has its own in-house brewery, seemingly only serving here which is cool. Sunday roast fairly meh, barely roasted potatoes, a kilogram of over boiled cabbage and a mangle of fatty beer. The Yorkshire and carrots were good though.

Had a ride to Bolton by bowland called in for a cheeky drink. Beautiful. Sat in the garden. What a lovely place. Will go again mid week and try there mid week 3 course menu.

My parents regularly eat here so recommended for me and my partner to visit. We booked for Saturday evening at 7:00pm. I noticed the A La Carte menu was quite pricey so we dressed for the occasion, however when we arrived we were shocked how many people were sat in cycling shorts and jeans. Not something I expected when a main course is £40.We ordered two steaks medium, my boyfriend had no complaints. However mine was very tough, I asked the waitress if they were both medium as mine was very pink and tough. She snapped back with she’d already asked me how my food was. At that point I’d only tried a chip so just did a polite head nod when asked. She wasn’t happy I brought up the issue with steak and offered a free cocktail or pudding. This doesn’t really substitute a £38 steak that was tougher than a boot.I don’t know whether she didn’t take me on as we’re a younger couple or what but she was very hostile. As someone who has managed bars for the last 6 years I was so disappointed. If you’re charging £38 for a steak it should be cooked to perfection and there should be a standard when it comes to dress code. Told my parents about the experience and they were disgusted and also won’t be returning. Staff training needs to be refreshed clearly.

This could have been the best Sunday lunch I've eaten out. Meat was cooked to perfection and plenty of it, amazing veg, toasties and Yorkshire pud. Staff we're super friendly and helpful.
