Awful service , won't answer after I have made complaints several times for paying to much tax, I work in telesales and this is one of the worst customer service levels I have ever experienced. Deserve to be named and shamed for this 1hr wait time today , and every other time called at least 30 min for a advisor not to solve the problem , 4 months later and still haven't resolved my issue .

If this was a commercial organisation they would be out of business in a week. Soul destroying lack of effectiveness. I must have been on hold for hours trying to resolve a Self Assessment fine and I have been PAYE for decades.

Have to listen to loads of pre-recorded guff about the long wait times and how you should go on their website instead of talking to a human. When I eventually talked to a member of staff the line was very bad and I struggled to hear what he wa saying. Usual stuff these days. Big companies and gov’t quick to take your money but abysmal customer service in return.

Useless, there’s nothing you can do, I’ve been on hold for one hour, nobody pick up the phone, web site? Even worse. You can’t get through, nobody helps you.. ridiculous

MINUS *. I don’t want to give any stars! That’s an hour and a half of my life I won’t get back. First call, on Tuesday, after 50 mins got to speak to some chap, he couldn’t answer my question and asked me to hold on whilst he spoke to a colleague. A VM cut me off when he never returned. Next day, I thought I would try again, after 40 mins I eventually got through to an adviser, but I couldn’t understand him due to a crackle on the line. Again, a VM cut me off after a few minutes. So, a Recorded delivery letter is on its way now. Disgusting service. If they can’t deal with calls, is there a point in leaving a review. Who will look at them? I can only hope.!

Absolutely useless, just like every uk government agency, tried to call for assistance with my self assessment, on hold for an hour then disconnected and I'm calling from Australia. No doubt they would answer if you owe them money

Unhelpful and quite frankly, absolutely useless.I informed the call handler that nothing was resolved in the call. They insulted me and hung up.

On the phone for 1.10 mins to get through to a agent who sounded like I had woken him up from sleep. Also calls charged at the national rate to a government organisation is disgusting it should be a free phone line number.

only giving one start because you can't give negative.HMRC have to be the most incompetent Government dept we have.Only way to contact them is by phone that can have you on hold well over an hour until you are abruptly advised that HMRC can no longer accept your call without even speaking to anyone???Online is a joke, never has anything you are looking for and the HMRC app is about as much use as chocolate teapot, submissions seem to just stick on In Progress until they eventually get assigned COMPLETE without so much as a letter to advise what they did if anything at all.I've submitted 5 different claims for Mileage expenses reimbursement and none have been dealt with, no info back from HMRC to advise why, when you do eventually get someone on the phone they are is such a rush to get you off it makes you feel bad about calling them, last advice from an advisor was to complete a self assessment (I'm PAYE) which I did and they have now sent me a bill for tax owed (they actually owe me???) and they have not only given me a demand for payment in January 2024 but also reduced my tax code to cover other taxes they say I owe.........................................absolutely useless bunch of halfwits
