The National Trust should swallow their pride and bring the Brownlow Cafe back. This current cafe is a joke where they don't communicate with each other about the orders. Was waiting 20 minutes for a cheese and onion toastie to be made before they realised it didn't make it to the cooks.

Quite a few wasps but all you have to do is shoo then away ,it's clean ,good quality food just not much on the menu although there iced lattes are really nice on a hot day.

Oh how this place has gone downhill since being taken over by The National Trust. Big ques for tasteless pre packed sandwiches and a very limited menu, the staff are nice which is the only upside!

Since the new team have been at Ashridge cafe, the choice of food has gone down. The team themselves are lovely, but bring back all day long Sausage baps, the gigantic scone that when I took home I shared the cream with my cat. Even the tuna mayo - you could choose sandwich, baguette or bap - now you just get an overpriced tasteless sandwich. I love Ashridge, its cafe and its staff but bring back the food that once was there - as I miss it.

Nice food. Great place to have some food after a nice walk. The place is great in nice weather but if it rains, um!Not cheap and I'm afraid very slow service.

It used to be a buzzing privately owned cafe with lots of fresh cooked interesting to eat food. It's now boring sarnis and cakes . With a bacon or sausage bap. Shame really all processed nothing fresh . Not enough staff making coffee sometimes a very long wait and the place isn't even full .

I have to say I am a big fan of Ashridge and love the walk, however it's about time national trust looks at the food and drinks offering or shake up the internal team up a bit...They kicked the old catering company out, and replace it with an in house team, the team are lovely and friendly however the food is poor and over priced - I don't mind paying more for a good quality, exciting options, but not a basic ham and cheese sandwich that I can buy in Tesco for quarter of the price. They had the opportunity to improve vs the old catering company but if anything you made it more boring. Also you know you can't predict the weather in the UK, therefore put cover over some of the benches at least people can enjoy the food and drinks without getting wet. It's not a rocket science... It's simple hospitality

Not a patch on when it was the Brownlow Cafe. We used to come here for amazing breakfasts. Now all you can get are breakfast rolls and coffee so weak I'd barely be able to identify what it was. Service is terrible too. After ordering and paying I was just left standing there. I asked if I was to wait for the coffees and received only a blank stare. So I went and sat at a table. Eventually someone shouted 'two black Americanos'. I walked up to the counter to see three cups and asked which were the black Americanos, only to be met with a blank stare again. No ketchup was offered when our breakfast rolls were ready. The bacon was 50 percent fat. I shall no be returning

Perhaps ok for a cup of tea and a light snack but if you were hoping for a satisfying lunch, bring your own food! I queued 20 min then was charged £6.50 for a so-called burger that fitted in the palm of my hand and had no mayo, no ketchup, no salad, no onions, no cheese... Just a miserable bun with a bit of spread inside (see picture)... and £5.95 for a carrot and coriander soup that was so watery and tasted so cheap, that I suspect it was made from a sachet. Once again Rip-off Britain at its meanest.

After walking the Frenchie in the stunning autumnal woods it's great to stop for a coffee and treat at this National Trust coffee shop. You place the order and take a buzzer which let's you know when it's ready. Tends to be a little slow but worth the wait normally.
