The Newark

An older building with some quaint features.My initial impressions were that it is very basic accommodation. That it is- but it has 2 outstanding qualities.- Its staff & the restaurant. The 3 ladies who multi tasked between reception & the restaurant were outstanding. They & the chef simply could not do enough to look after varying dietary needs, with care, concern & quality the hallmarks. Menu was uncomplicated & off menu items were delicious. Those experiences transcend any other concerns. Thank you for your outstanding service

One star for the friendly and helpful as can be staff. Second star for the comfy and surprisingly clean bed and is nice and quiet around the place. The rest of the hotel is a joke don’t understand why it has so many good reviews. Place is dated, has a weird smell all over the place, wallpaper peeling off every wall or ceiling you look at. Wifi wouldn’t work. Felt itchy everytime I was in the building the place gave me the fear! Couldn’t tell you about the food value my health too much to try it out!

A lovely little hotel in a great location for Peterborough town centre. Offers rooms from budget to better, so all good prices. The rooms are well maintained and clean, with a comfy bed. Would defo use again

Good location, clean room, secured car park?

The Newark is a budget hotel about a mile from Peterborough city centre, so it may not be ideal for tourists (it's popular with forwarders, construction workers and such). But you can easily reach it by bus (lines 5, 5a) from the centre.The hotel was still being refurbished when I arrived, and my en-suite double was certainly modern and clean. The bathroom facilities I found to be excellent, except there was no rag for the towels to dry, and the bathroom door didn't have a cylinder (yet?). The shower was big (no curtain or door though), and the water pressure adequate (not a given in budget hotels). The bed was comfy, and there was enough storage for my clothes and stuff. A 32 flat-screen Tv was provided

Nice place to stay at, clean and bright reception. My room was a single sized just about right. Undergoing refurbishment so still looks run down in places. Food in restaurant was sufficient for most palates. Will stay there again but this time with en suite facilities. (I don't like sharing all that.

It's dated but clean, bar is hit and miss some rooms are ensuite the are showers on the corridorsOur shower never stopped dripping all night. There is free WiFi and parking

This is the place I always stay at when I work down this way. The staff are great and have worked here for years. Always a warm welcome. They do breakfast and evening meals and also have a bar too! The rooms are quite basic but clean. The shower is good up on the first floor, just what I need after a day at work. There is a decent sized car park around the back and there is a seating area out back to sit and have a drink.
