Ideas on Paper

This is a great book store with a great range of unique magazines and books. The owner is very knowledgable about what he sells and can help to discover some new, equally (or sometimes more) interesting alternatives to what you normally look for. My experience in Ideas on Paper has been nothing but positive every time so I'd definitely recommend!

I've been to this bookstore a few times during my time at uni and I love it! It has a really interesting range of books and a relaxing vibe. The owner has been helpful numerous times in helping me find what type of book I need, I would definitely recommend this little gem!

A must visit destination when visiting Notts, I have purchased so many books for gifts and for myself. Alex the owner is friendly, I even get a coffee made for me sometimes! You can talk to him about the person you are buying for and he makes excellent recommendations. Jam-packed with great books and ideas, it's located within a nice row of indie shops which are also worth visiting.

What a fantastic little shop!! It was wonderful to find such a wide range of books and magazines, whilst I would have happily spent all day perusing every shelf it was extremely useful to have the proprietor on hand and able to translate my interests in to a stack of interesting publications. Sadly I wasn’t in a position to buy them all however I was given an opportunity to leaf through each of them at my leisure in a quiet corner of the shop and in the end chose three. This is a great shop that will enable you to find a wide range of magazines that you almost certainly didn’t know existed! Highly recommended.

This small shop is one of the most enterprising and imaginative bookstores in the country. It is run by an amiable guy whose passion for books and ideas is contagious. I love the fact that customers are requested not to use mobile phones while in the shop. If only more places took such a view!

The shop has a variety of interesting but overpriced books laid in neat order, and the owner has no sense of customer relations. Seemed very involved and engaging at first(almost too nosy if u ask me. Just let me be please), but berated my partner for taking a picture of a book as if he had authored the book and we were infringing on copyrights (an £18 book you can get for a 10er online). Could have said politely, she offered to delete, but he decided to escalate it by calling it extremely uncool and for us to leave the shop. Who does that? Needs to lose the pettiness and run a business. Otherwise vacate for another small business.Wouldn’t recommend it. Certainly not the hassle. Enjoy the nice cafe downstairs instead.

Been dropping by over the past year since starting university, mainly to search for art and/or design magazines. The owner has an amazing and diverse selection of magazines and books on offer, and after purchasing copies of Design Anthology, he picked out other titles that he thought might be of interest - proving to be extremely helpful and beautiful magazines to own. Clearly very passionate about the store and titles in it, would recommend even just a visit and ignoring the more scathing and harsh reviews, they do not do this shop justice.

The shop owner explained that he does industry talks as part of my university course. I bought 3 magazines at full price, then he shows up at my uni that same week and offers everyone in my class amazing discounts on reading. I felt a bit cheated.

Had some lovely reads here, also, found my childhood favourite book! Was a real pleasure to relive some brilliant times.

Came in for the third time the other day, and every new visit is always as good as the last. The friendly owner shows an active interest in helping his customers and his range of books and magazines is nothing short of amazing.I don't think you'll ever need to go elsewhere, definitely worth a visit.
