We came as wife and husband and we were very warmly welcomed. Our room was comfortable and just perfect for what we needed.The staff were very friendly and made us feel 'at home' there is parking nearby available but just ask at the bar and they will direct you.Food was really nice and good value for money. A real cosy atmosphere.

8 of us went in for drinks. No where to sit so we went and sat outside under small heater. Asked if they were doing food but unfortunately full. We got fish & chips & stood eating outside the chippy then one of the group said let's go back to red lion and sit where we were, then go back in for drinks whilst we wait for bus. Member of staff came out & asked us to leave, even though not one other was person there? Then the manager (I presume) came out & was really rude/aggressive towards us. We were really shocked, I asked what harm we were doing & that we had already been in drinking & had also been in her other pub (I believe she runs) the manners! She said we were using her electricity!! She could have just offered to bring us drinks out & make us welcome but she didn't, that's 8 customers lost due to her manner/zero customer service skills. We could understand if it was rammed or people waiting for tables but there was no one there other than us sat in the dark at far end of beer garden. Just rude the way she spoke to us. We are adults, not kids!

We came there today for lunch. Entered with two families. The would not service us because we came in together instead of as two separate groups of 4. Sat on seperate tabels and told the lady at the counter that we don't expact them to service us at the same time, but she refused to service us anyway. Because we were a party of 8 so she said very unfriendly.

Stayed here a while ago party of 5 people over 2 rooms, whilst the rooms were nice , they were slightly dated.We had 3 people sharing in 1 room, but they did not provide enough pillows and duvets. We did ask if they could provide extras and leave in our rooms for returns. This did not happen.The most insulting part was they member of staff who dealt with us at breakfast time. Upon entering the restaurant for a much looked forward to breakfast. Our party was accused of entering the other guests room. Very much taken a back by this, the lady realised that we were not responsible for this. When it came to taking orders, it was a fairly simply 5 full English breakfasts but 1 with no beans. She told us that this is awkward, and it would be easier for whoever didn't want beans to scrape on to some one else's plate. I really do not find this acceptable, such a shame, because Bakewell is a lovely town and lots of nice walks.

Excellent customer service, food is a very good standard and great value for money. Visited three times this week no hesitation in recommending. Dog friendy also.

Incredibly bad experience. We booked a room, but when we arrived they told us that they weren't providing rooms any more and that our booking should have been cancelled. We ended up having to drive back from Bakewell to London at night because they didn't have a solution. The owner promised us a free night as an apology and asked for our email, but that didn't ever get followed up. Massively wasted our time, lied to us and told us whatever they needed to get us to leave. Horrible way to treat someone.

Always slightly disappointed when it takes 30 minutes to order, cook and eat a dinner. Saturday evening and only two tables occupied so maybe why the food came so quickly?Personally would have preferred the Brie to be sliced rather than deep fried in the bacon & Brie burger. Sausage & mash lacking a tasty sausage.

Limited menu, no lunch menu, no kids menu. Staff not very flexible. Not as good as it used to be but still nice beers, a nice fire and a nice location. Hopefully improves and we’ll be back

We visited this pub on a Thursday evening at 6pm had a drink in the bar which is very nice we then went to order food to be told that they don't do food after 5pm this is strange when the website clearly says food served on a Thursday 11am to 7pm very disappointing. We got chatting to another couple who had also tried to eat too shortly after us they were also disappointed
