We were having new stair spindles and posts etc fitted and it was necessary to have the carpet lifted and refitted after the work was completed. We contacted Dean to request a quote which he provided. £75 to lift and £100 to return and refit. Lifting it went ok but on his return to refit he said that he hadn’t quoted or allowed time to trim the carpet and to do so would be an extra £25. I’m disabled and we had a dog staying with us and the gripper strips were exposed…. so the work really needed doing. Dean wasn’t happy but eventually agreed to carry on and refit the carpet. Upon completion I gave him £130. Within a couple of weeks the carpet at the top of the stairs came loose. I contacted Dean who said that he would come to sort it out. Then he came back to me saying that he was off sick but would come the following week. He text that week to say that he was still ill so it would be the following week. After which he rang and made arrangements to attend. He didn’t turn up. I have since both rang and left a message and text him. NO REPLY!I have had to appoint another carpet fitter for the repair. He was horrified at what he called “the 3rd rate job” that Dean had Carried out. The carpet needed lifting and refitting as it hadn’t been trimmed at all!! He had just turned the excess carpet under (it was thick pile - so imagine how it looked). The carpet was lifted and refitted for just £70 (NOT £205) and what a difference a professional job has made. I would strongly advise you to stay clear of Dean of Rapid Carpet fitters.
