Took my coat because the stitching had become undone in both pockets so needed stitching up. Asked my fiance to pick it up as I was work. She was told she couldn't pay with her card because the lady with the card machine wasn't in. I picked it up myself at the weekend with cash and was charged £10. The next day I realised that there was still an inch long hole in one of the pockets. It led me to believe that the work had been rushed and had not been checked.

Terrible service. It's gone down hill. I used to be able to go in early Saturday and get same day service by a lovely woman that went out of her way to always help. Recently and including today I have been turned away, even though I have been told that if I come no later than 8.30 I can get same day service. Today the guy made some idiotic excuse. Again terrible service.

I cautiously asked do you clean clothes yes they replied. Good I countered I refused to be outwitted then clean these, they looked at my soiled garments smiled and responded it will cost you. Quick as a flash i responded okay i will pay, they saw that i was resolute and not ready to back down without a fight so acquiesced. I cannot fault them, my garments sparkled like diamonds in the sun. Oh thanks i said upon leaving it only cost me 5 grots thats 3 shilling in modern money.

All of the clean laundry was stained like this, all the laundry was burned during drying, I have never seen such a disgraceful thing. I do not recommend it to anyone, it is not a professional company.

£13.90 to dry clean a favourite coat that had gone mouldy. They were careful to warn me that it might not work out (because the care label had faded), but recommended dry-clean instead of a wash (because the drier could have melted the fabric), and got me to sign an ‘at customer’s risk note’. It came back looking fresh and nearly new. Took several days (but on time) which is my only (very minor) disappointment, but honestly great service with a smile.

Zip replacement. The worst bit of sewing I have ever seen. An absolute disgrace of laziness and unprofessionalism. Sewing not straight, fabric twisted out of shape and effectively 'pleated' in parts!, sections missed, zip not matched to original in colour or style, huge lumps of thread left hanging, loose threads left hanging. I honestly could have done the job better myself. I cannot 'un-recommend' this place enough. I want to complain more than I have words for here... Pathetic. Use them at your peril.

I have a very busy business in Lancaster, so I dont get very much time at home, I started using Lancaster City Laundry last year, I send all my bedding and towels, because I have allergies they are happy to use my own soap powder and fabric conditioner, every thing comes back folded nicely and my towels are always nice and fluffy, they even collect and deliver to your home, fantastic local family business, 5 star rating from Christine
