Alliance Francaise de Manchester

I recently did the B1.1 course with a tutor called Léa who used lots of different techniques and resources to make the course materials interesting and engaging and effective. My classmates were all interesting and fun and we worked well together and had a good time too. I had been nervous before starting the course, because I was so out of practice speaking French, but the atmosphere was very relaxed yet supportive, we were encouraged to just have a go and do our best. There was no shame if we got anything wrong, as mistakes were used as learning opportunities, with corrections and constructive criticisms given gently and kindly, and with the enthusiasm and encouragement to help us learn and improve.Lots of my classmates are moving on to the B1.2 course, and the only reason I'm not doing so right now is that I'm going to France for 12 weeks to do an internship with a French company via the Turing Scheme, and I feel like doing the B1.1 course has given me the skills and confidence to do that, so thank you!I'm planning to return to Alliance Française in Manchester in future to further my studies and hopefully do some exams and gain some certifications.

I completed 5 courses at the Alliance de Manchester at B2 level, each one 8 weeks of 3 hours a week. All courses were well delivered and in-person in a small group. We frequently changed teachers between courses, which was nice as each teacher has a different style, emphasising something different. The community of students and teachers was active and welcoming.

Alliance Francaise (Manchester) is probably the best place to learn advanced level French in the UK. At the highest level, the DALF C1 course can be taken to deepen your knowledge of the language to a degree that will serve you well in any situation you are likely to encounter. Teaching materials and staff are excellent. Topics discussed are wide-ranging, have a topical content that relates to whatever is of particular relevance to contemporary life in France and provide a great opportunity to broaden speaking and writing skills. There is no pressure on students to do any more than they want and the atmosphere in the classroom is always friendly and encouraging.

Am loving my online French course with Alexandra. She is a gifted teacher with the ability to get the most out of her students.

The course was delivered with pace and with care. It was appropriately challenging and Romane was a brilliant tutor. I learnt a lot and enjoyed the company of my classmates in our French conversations.

I really enjoyed participating in B1/B2 online class this autumn. The class was very participatory, the other students were friendly and the teacher very skillful in guiding our debates and class discussions. I gained more courage to speak and acquired new vocabulary. It was a pleasant experience; I am eager for new knowledge and to practice more speaking.

Marion is a wonderful tutor. She is patient, supportive and encouraging. Her friendly manner helped me feel welcome in the online class.

I have been attending classes at the Alliance Francaise for several years. The tuition has always been excellent with highly skilled and experienced native French speakers who use a range of interesting topics to improve your vocabulary, fluency and most of all confidence to express yourself at whatever level you choose. Language learning is a lifelong skill and regular tuition with the Alliance Francaise has helped me make steady progress. They also organise cultural events for all their students and the public and promote French culture through their extensive on site library and online access. The lessons are always a highlight of my week.

I am about to take my third course at the AF. I have no hesitation recommending this centre, as the staff are friendly, helpful and the teachers are attentive and fun. I have really built up a lot of confidence in speaking and listening, even if I do make the odd mistake! Lots of helpful resources in the library too

All francophiles living in Greater Manchester are blessed to have access to the Alliance Francaise de Manchester. It is like an oasis! All members of the team are highly professional and exceptionally friendly; the French courses are outstanding; and the library and other cultural events are very welcome. I cannot praise the AF de Manchester too highly!
