Watergate Bay blew me away.Amazing surf beach, with dramatic scenery which you could see from this hotel which we really enjoyed having a drink at.The food was exceptional, the fish and chips were excellent and the variety of beers and wine were also goodI look forward to the next opportunity to visit this place again.

Great. We stay there for our wedding anniversary every year and it never fails to deliver. Rooms are great, spectacular sea views, and the spa is fantastic too.Highly recommend.

Lovely stay here but it was extremely hot outside and the rooms dont have AC or at least the room we stayed in didn’t. We had our dog coming with us which we’d told the hotel about before but unfortunately the only thing they gave us was a small office type fan. Otherwise stay was lovely. Wouldn’t recommend it for the summer if I’m honest because at night the rooms are unbearable but in the winter I imagine it would be a lovely trip.

Watergate Bay Hotel - you blew us away!We had the Taste of the Bay break which was fantastic. The whole experience was great from the helpful reservation team to the stunning location and amazing food. From the moment we arrived, we - and our elderly dog - were made to feel so welcome. The hotel really is dog-friendly and even a couple of accidents didn’t faze the staff (thank you and apologies to the cleaning staff!). From a continuous supply of bowls of water for the dog to the provision of a monitor so we could leave her in the room while we enjoyed a wonderful meal in Zacry’s, she was looked after as well as we were! We were really struck by how friendly and helpful all the team were, particularly the nice gentleman who made the most delicious breakfast waffles to the lovely patient lady on reception who sorted out our rather complicated bill. Nothing was too much trouble and the whole feeling was of a very efficiently run hotel but with a really relaxed and laid back vibe. We loved the rooms, the comfy lounge, the pool and the panoramic terrace overlooking the sea. Spending 3 days just relaxing, eating, walking on the beach, swimming, reading and sleeping was the perfect break. Thank you WBH, we look forward to coming back again!

We’ve been coming to WGB for almost 10 years now starting as a family of 3 and now a family of 6. Every time we come each experience surpasses the last. The setting is stunning and every time we come the views blow you away, rain or shine it’s extremely special and is up there as the best England has to offer. The hotel itself is stunning, the decor is beautiful, homely but high end without being too ostentatious it’s uncomfortable. The kids club is as my children worded it ‘unreal’ the staff are all so lovely and welcoming - special mention to Ottilie who always goes out of her way to make the children feel welcome. Hannah at the front desk was always super accommodating and helpful - as a large family we are forever querying things or annoyingly changing dinner bookings and it was never an issue or too much trouble. The spa is amazing, and helps add that super relaxing edge to your break. I had an amazing massage with Kelly but all the therapists are great and the treatments are lovely without being overly fussy. Last but by no means least…the food! The breakfasts have to be our favourite but all meals are amazing! Thank you to all the team for another amazing family break at WGB - till next time!

Had lunch here after it was recommended by a friend. Couldn't fault it. Firstly, it's a lovely location with superb views from the elevated terrace stretching out across the bay towards Newquay. I'm led to believe that at sunset it's even better. The food was lovely, if a tad slow, reasonably priced and the service was excellent; attentive without being intrusive. It's also dog friendly which was great.Would totally recommend it.

After our third stay at Watergate Bay I have very mixed feelings and can’t decide whether to return as planned next summer. The positives: excellent service, the staff are wonderful and very welcoming; the food is absolutely wonderful, the relaxed dog friendly vibe is great BUT there are quite a few negatives… the rooms are very expensive for what you get IMO, the spa is inadequate for the size of the hotel (plus the fact that they also have day spa guests!) - on many occasions I have been unable to sit by the pool, the tiny sauna is full and I have only managed to get in to the hot tub twice for about 15 minutes in total over three weeks as there is always a couple in there for ages! The hotel desperately needs to add some more hot tubs and another sauna (or have some sort of rota booking system to make it fair), the EV chargers are a rip off (if you are lucky enough to get one as they’re normally blocked by non EVs and the hotel staff are reluctant to ask people to move their cars!), the location is handy for the beach but it’s not exactly peaceful on a busy main road. All in all, it’s a nice place but definitely not worth the cost.

Beautiful location. Very nice aesthetic. Good food. Friendly service. Great walks right nearby. Things to consider - village apartments are not accessible for elderly. We needed to rent a car to get them up the hill and several flights of stairs. If you are bothered by children - this may not be the place for you. Only book the most expensive restaurant later in the evening if you want to avoid the mayhem of families. The pool during family time (9-6) is not relaxing. No bell person- we hauled our luggage uphill to our room. There was a nice girl that walked with us but no trolley for the luggage. No wash cloths so pack those. Pack a coffee press for proper coffee in the room. No umbrellas or wellies to borrow. They should get a golf cart to bring people with mobility challenges up the hill to their rooms. They should add room service for the village apartments. Upon arrival they would like to give a thorough briefing on all things. Suggest having a bell person to take guests directly to their room and perform orientation in the room so that those who have traveled overnight/overseas can get rested. There is nothing walking distance to do so plan to stay at the resort. The town of Newquay isn’t particularly quaint.

We simply love this hotel (us, the children, the dog, etc). We visit regularly as a very relaxed place any time of year and enjoy the elements at their best. Food, drink and service are superb, great pool, sauna and hot tub with views to kill for. Best of all, you are on the most beautiful of beaches with an incredible ocean to play in. The rooms themselves are nothing super special but then again, you should only be using them to sleep here! Cannot recommend enough!

Stayed here for a week for 1 week with our two little boys (18 months) and 3 year old. It was perfectly set up for families. The rooms were spacious (although one slight down side was that we were facing the road which was a bit loud at times). Our room also had a small outdoor space which is handy.Food in all the restaurants was very very good. It’s rare to find a place that has great food in all its eating places so this was really nice. The onsite nursery was EXCELLENT! Our 3 year old was always excited to go. This was one the reasons we booked this place as with kids having that break is essential. The indoor pool/spa were also great. Although a little pricey for the spa but still a nice experience. We managed to squeeze in a trip outside of school holidays, so it wasn’t busy either. I would 100% recommend this place for a holiday in the UK.The beach and bay were great, weather was average - but it’s the UK, so always be prepared for anything.
