When things are good they are brilliant and staff work so very hard. They work very long shifts and under such pressure and lack of services.I have been in need of hospitals care and have been grateful to get it.However, even before covid there has been a massive culture change in this hospital where very sick patients are being sent home and not given the treatment or care they should have. The fear and isolation they have caused me and others will never leave me.These Professionals may believe they are saving lives and just doing their jobs but us the actual patient we are just another body. Another shift they have to get through. It comes down to being treatable at a cost and if you don’t then it’s tough!Being advised to get Private Healthcare that I’m never going to get ever I was told was the only way I would get help. This could be you or your loved one. There aren’t the resources in the community unless you can pay for them so you are left to fight when you are very ill.I never ever believed this could have happened to me but here I am regardless.

During the spring of 2023 I phoned up because I was battling the symptoms of un medicated ADHD . The duty nurse a tax funded employee of the NHS . Ordered me to go and take cannabis or ecstasy . I think he was the product himself of such a lifestyle. Sounded dopey enough and the narcissistic drive was strong .Obviously many of us know that illegal drugs are an unregulated product and lead to worse MH symptoms. How this clown can be peddling out his own unregulated sidelines is a testament to how the NHS is a crim law on to itself .Yes I have tried similar to what he advised. Years ago it made my symptoms worse .I was expecting better then what. I got .I was advised and directed to phone up this place , By the terrible Edinburgh crisis line . The crisis actually being in a over promotion ( by the SG and NHS Scot )of everyone finding mental health faults with themselves and creating an unprecedented strain and demand on MH services. Which have been underfunded and over valued . By collusive governments . Since the inception of the NHS.I have been referred for a full ADHD assessment by my GP . However the waiting list is two years . You see the NHS has told people it’s alright not to be alright . When it’s not . In fact it’s dangerous in competitive capitalist Scotland.NHS managers, , strategists and MH directors. Knew full well pre COVID that demand outweighs supply . They have created a crisis of their own making . One that they profiteer from while the seekers of help suffer .This presents a great business opportunity for the NHS to promote costly private care and tough luck to those who can’t afford it . Apart from that there are poorly regulated private charities. The effects of drugs in the workplace is a major issue in Scotland alcoholism is over vilified while Doctors and front line workers who take unregulated drugs in their spare time get to run the NHS into the ground .REH is the epitome of this corrupt culture.Time to literally fire the lot and start again. With all ranks regularly tested and people fired and struck off for giving dangerous advice to patients.

Absolutely shocking service. I presented to mhas about over 20 times in the space of 18 months in absolute desperation for help. They are condescending, rude and dissmisive. On my last and final visit they refused to assess me and told me under no uncertain terms that I should never come back for treatment. I would recommend using charities and other organisations for help before you use mhas as a last resort. Absolutely terrible!

Never been so disgusted with any nhs hospital in my life especially a mental health hospital I wouldn’t recommend this place for your loved ones my mums been in and out for just over 3 years medication change numerous times always discharged to quickly before even seeing a doctor or having aftercare support arranged she came out even worse than she was going in the last 2 times I had to take my mum back up as she was suicidal and no matter what anyone said or done her mind was made up both times I went up begging them for help the mhas team couldn’t have cared basically put it down to another diagnoses (bare in mind my mum has been diagnosed with everything and anything they could label her) both times they sent us off home basically told get on with it no help or support for her people really need to think twice before going to this hospital or putting family members in here it’s no place for anyone

Not sure about this place. Been here as a patient briefly a year ago and on acquiring my medical records very recently I was astounded at the inaccuracy of my notes - one entry actually applied to another patient not myself which is a breach of their confidentiality. Some of the occupational therapist, art and drama therapist, recreational activity assistants were amazing and really helped. However, a select few (not all) nursing staff and doctors (consultants, not junior doctors- not just mine as I’ve had more than one, but a fellow patient’s consultant) shouldn’t be working here as they’ve become rather jaded. I understand it’s a stressful job - but patients still deserve basic respect and dignity and not to be made like less than a human.

I thought it was going to be a terrible experience but I was pleasantly surprised. Staff are lovely and kind. I felt safe and well looked after here.

Allowed to walk through these beautiful, peaceful grounds and see many cheerful and dedicated volunteers helping to maintain the lush gardens and glorious flowers and majestic trees. Honestly, one of my favourite spots in the world.

I came here after trying to commit suicide the day before. They sent me away with a work sheet and told me it was just because of low mood. I left feeling helpless, stupid, and even worse. The bad reviews made me feel not so alone. I wish they could have been more help, and I hope people who are seriously struggling with their mental health receive better “advice” than I did.
