I wouldn't recommend anyone to use this council especially if you’re going for khula.I provided a lengthy statement for my khula (as this council requests in their application process) which had substantial evidence, yet was made to attend meetings where my ex-husband was present and had to prove to a panel of 3 men what he had put me through during my pregnancy. These people have zero training and expertise in dealing with or recognising victims of all types of domestic abuse and are clearly oblivious to the effect their practices have on someone's wellbeing and mental health, subjecting them to more vulnerability. I was just few months post-partum when I attended the first meeting and almost had a panic attack when they were logging in my ex-husband online on the screen but was abruptly told, “this is how it is in the English courts, so deal with it!” I wasn't even allowed to have a mehram present in the room with me and at one point it felt like a circus show where this panel seemed to be getting a kick out of it.There was solid evidence of my ex-husband stating on several occasions he will never reconcile with me (heck - he even absconded - left the UK and ran off back to his home country). He never responded to the khula notices sent out by this shariah council but turned up to the meetings (online) and was given a platform to speak. I had made it clear in my application that I am not applying for a reconciliation, but they didn’t take this into consideration. My representative even questioned them on the phone, asking why give him a platform to speak if he ignored all three khula notices nor clarified his stance, to which they replied that the notices don’t matter but attending the meeting does. What kind of procedure is this???Because of their failings due to their awful methods of carrying out these meetings, I left the first meeting devastated, the opposite of reassured or protected. I was repeatedly asked by the main Qari on the panel “do you want to stay in this marriage?” can you relocate to his home country?" “why did you leave him” when they were already provided with a *40 page statement* documenting ample evidence of my ex-husband's behaviour. I left the meeting being told by the panel "we can't make a decision today because your husband feels he has been wronged" which in turn enabled him to play games and long out this process even further.I'm not sure who regulates these councils but I'll leave my feedback here (since they weren’t keen in taking it on board when my representative spoke with them over the phone) and strongly believe their policies need to be scrutinised; as you can see in the reviews left before me

Avoid them at all cost!! It’s very. Disappointing how they claim to work with the intent of using Quran and sunnah however they do not.Very misleading and shameful how they take advantage of vulnerable women. They make Islam look like it demeans women.May allah give you awareness and knowledge of your dishonour to Muslims so you may correct your waysAs a woman i would recommend going to the English court as this is where you will get help and support, not here

This is one of the best Muslim organisations I have come across in the UK. The services they offer are very appropriate for the Muslim community.I have contacted them for marriage counselling and alhamdulillah the situation was sorted out very well.It is clear the shaykhs have lots of knowledge and training in islamic matters. I have since been contacting them with my islamic questions and for guidance. They have always helped. Never even asked for money.Recommended.

I would give zero if I could. I understand the service provided is a benefit to the community however the complete lack of care for the well-being of individuals and lack of mental health care is abysmal. A plan for the process was provided and throughout this procedure it completely flew out the window. Lack of communication throughout the process and when trying to be informed as to the timeframe or next steps being called a nuisance and threatened with a delay in the decision is very unprofessional. Lots of mental health and wellbeing training should be taken by the members of this organisation.

Avoid Avoid Avoid. Sharee Council by name only and not actionsAvoid reporting your disputes, especially marital disputes, to the so called Sharee Council as they help creating more problems rather than solving them. My wife who absconded from the house since June last year along with my two kids approached them to do the Kholaa. They didn’t comply with what Sharee says in Islam and they did it without informing me and when I requested for supporting documents to back up their claim, the person on phone who is meant to be Sheikh started shouting and tried to intimidate me by saying that they will not consider it Kholaa but divorce to force me pay the Mahr. I’m going to report the matter to the highest authorities and make sure they abide by what Islam says and not their own principles.Like I mentioned above, avoid dealing with them at any cost as they will help destroy your family rather than bringing Muslim families together.

I was very impressed with the level of professionalism and care provided by the personell that run the council. They also had female staff in a voluntary capacity to provide help and support to any female visitors. The waiting area's were clean and welcoming and my case was handled in a fair and just manner, according to Shariah.Jazakallah
