The rooms were a bit small. The ac unit could have been in a better location. The hotel and room were what I imagined an authentic Scottish hotel would look like. I did not want a hotel that looked like I could find in the US. The location was great! The view of Old Edinburgh was great!

We stayed there in August. I want to say the name says it all. OLD! This was our second time in Edinburgh. The rooms needed some serious TLC. The mini split air conditioner leaked water on the floor. The beds were OK. The bathtub/shower was high enough that it took some very careful gymnastics to get in and out of. There were no hand holds to assist you in getting in or out. I and my wife found this to be very concerning. No one wants to take a fall when on vacation.I found the staff to helpful and courteous. We very much enjoyed the lounge area where we could sit and have a cocktail after a day of exploring the beautiful city of Edinburgh. We did not find the breakfast to be that good. And chose to eat all of our meals elsewhereThe real plus is the location, right in the heart of Princes Street close to the train station.Would I stay there again? NO. I would recommend this only for it's location.

Had a lovely evening meal after a busy day in the city. Restaurant was quiet but service was impeccable. Both meals, fish and chips for me and caesar salad for my friend, were tasty and plentiful. Will definitely return.

Old Waverley’s location is prime and the attached restaurant is absolutely awesome (food wise). However, the WiFi is akin to old dial up: sometimes you can get on; other times you can’t and the speeds are horrible. Due to the building setup, getting adequate cell signal (5G) to cover the lack of connectivity isn’t easy. So “downtime” in your room can get boring. The mattress in our room was either old or just bad quality and made for difficult nights’ rest. Not for those with limited mobility, the bath is a typical step up and in. The staff is friendly but the hotel could put more into its amenities and rooms.

Wonderful location, close to the station as the name suggests.Small or cosy rooms depending how you would describe them.Furnishings are antique or old fashion as one would like to suggest. The windows from room 112 displayed a Wonderful view of Princes Street, Scott memorial and fantastic backdrop.Unfortunately they didn't prevent the street noise from filtering through!!!I would advise ear plugs if staying here, as 2.5 hours sleep doesn't really cut it, although my bed was comfortable, and bathroom plush.I couldn't comment on the food here as they stopped serving food before I arrived and didn't serve breakfast until well after my checkout time.If given the choice and foresight, I probably wouldn't book again!!!!Lovely looking old building, and very polite and friendly staff (reception).

Clean and comfortable room but no phone in our room. Good service, excellent location, and they had our room ready an hour and a half early. They even stored our luggage until checkin so that we could start exploring Edinburgh. Afternoon tea was absolutely delightful. We definitely recommend this hotel.

Fantastic location. Friendly helpful staff and a good breakfast. Stairs can be a problem if you have any issues with luggage for the first floor.

The location is pretty good. Not great, but you could stay in worse places. I’m here about that bed though. An old spring mattress that sagged in the middle. It was like staying at my grandma’s house in the 1990s. The pillows made my entire neck hurt each night. The tv doesn’t work. The walls are thin. The window opened onto nothing and is large enough to escape if you had to.I will say the food in the restaurant was great but the service was terrible. It’s a great thing we didn’t come to Edinburgh for the hotel. When we come back we won’t be staying at this place again.
