The Barbershop Edinburgh

Old review from Sep 2021. I really wanted to like this place but my experience ended up being terrible. I have curly hair (Northern African) and they made a mess of it. I asked for a fade but when I pointed out that there was tuft of hair at the crown that was not properly cut and that they made my hairline unequal (almost half a cm difference), I was told that it was the nature of my hair! I have never heard that before and I have had a few haircuts in my lifetime including cutting my own hair. It still frustrates me how they gaslighted me instead of acknowledging their lack of experience and mistake. I have since found a Turkish barbershop and had no issues. It took me a while to post this review as I actually thought they could be right. Also, I have never posted a negative review before and this feels weird. I am not posting this for the apology and will not be returning. I just wanted to warn others with similar hair.

Quite literally the best barbershop in Edinburgh. I've made the mistake of going to others out of convenience previously but Stew, Michael and Alex are top tier barbers but even better people.I don't think I've met more genuine people on their jobs.

Never disappoint, top tier service every time. Was having trouble finding a new barber after moving to Edinburgh and tested a couple, can confidently say these guys have outdone every previous cut I have had. They know what they are doing and it shows, super friendly and welcoming and will even give suggestions when cutting your hair to make for an unmatched experience. Would recommend to anyone in the area!

unfortunately very disappointed, nice atmosphere, low prices, but the results of the haircut at a very low level! I left without feeling like I was at the barber, fade on head very badly done! beard trimming, tragedy!!! no contour, no razor! when I got home I had to grab the razor and fix it!

awesome place, really great value, best trim ive had in a long time and very friendly! i have long thickish hair which is normally trouble at a barbers and they did a great job. will be coming back soon

I have been going to the Barbershop Edinburgh for over four years, not long after it opened, and have seen the shop evolve over those years. In that time I have gone back every three to four weeks to get a cut from Michael, every time we have had a great chat and he has always been friendly to me throughout. He may at first seem like a big tough guy but he is genuinely a kind, fair and patient man who has helped me try a variety of haircuts which were all done to a high standard. I wish the shop and Michael all the best. I would strongly recommend a visit to anyone looking for a good chat and a cut!Ps Coco (the dog) is a great companion while you wait!

Been going here for almost a year. Get haircuts from Stewart who I highly recommend. Friendly bunch of guys and every visit is a pleasure. Barbershop dog is unreal.

Nice atmosphere, great haircut and friendly chaps! Upon telling them that I wanted to look like Cillian Murphy, they let me down very gently and told me it wouldn't be possible... but proceeded to give me a chop that I am very pleased with. Capisce.

Thought the price of £17 was very reasonable for the haircut and beard trim I received as a walk-in from Alex. Was really pleased with the cit and enjoyed the chat too!

Best barbers in town. Stewart is a top guy
