Townhead Medical Practice

It is a joke trying to get through. Even worse trying to speak to a doctor. The service at this practice is non existent and when you do get to speak with someone you are fobbed off or treated like you are bothering them. I have been with them for 15 years but I would leave in a heartbeat if there was another GP in the area.

Dr Verma is the best doctor I have ever had in over 20 years. He's wise and tough and got me through a really difficult time with me health. 10 stars out of 5.

Gold Standard receptionist team. Huge shout out to Myra (sorry if I spelt your name wrong)I live away from home for work and uni but travel back to my home town regularly, so I never thought I'd need to transfer my GP and reg with a new one.However, this week I developed a severe chest infection and high fever and I was way to ill to travel home. When I called my GPs back home they were extremely unhelpful and just said that the doctors would not be willing to prescribe anything for my chest infection, even though I have a history of these.So, I called multiple practices and they kept telling me to call my home GP, until I called the Townhead Medical Practice. The recpetionist I spoke to first (I believe was Myra) was incredible, they actually gave me constructive advice and looked out for me. They took the time to understand the predicament I was in and even though registration takes 2-3 days to come through, they did their very best to expedite the process for me. There was multiple phone calls between us (around 5) and they remembered me when I called back - it was extremely refreshing to experience this as I usually would have to re-explain my situation. Lastly, THEY EVEN CALLED ME BACK to let me know that there was an appt available.Words can't express how grateful I am for this team of receptionist and I am on the mend all thanks to their help.

Calling for an appointment will never be answered. Make an appointment offline and the receptionist asked me to make a phone appointment. I don't know what they do at work all day. Turning down someone's appointment? As a foreigner, I am very disappointed with the medical appointments in the UK. ridiculous!!

It's easier and more reliable to buy required meds from darknet than try and get them from here. Nice staff, doctors nice enough but shocking service. Have been left without meds for almost a week because they didn't bother to either send the prescription to the pharmacy requested or bother to phone me to say I had to go in to the surgery to pick up the prescription form. You guys do realise you're a doctors surgery and not a chicken shop right?

I've seen so many bad reviews on here that I'm leaving a good one now. Has the treatment and circumstances always been great? No, but that's what it's like to work for the NHS and considering how limited they are on resources due to a not so well functioning health system, I think they're doing a pretty amazing job and I've only ever received friendly and supportive care when I've been there, which unfortunately is a bit too often.

Was surprised to see the astounding amount of bad reviews here, I have been to the clinic quite a lot for different medical reasons and so far I am more than happy with the service I have received. The receptionist are kind and sweet my GP is amazing. Overall I had a very good experience. Yeah sometimes things might not run smoothly but Please cut them some slack, they are doing their best.

Dr V*rma is incompetent. Gave me too high dosage of medication, pharmacist had to correct it. Told me I was just 'anxious' but later done bloods and found that I was anemic. Was on time for my appointment and was kept waiting 40 minutes to be seen. Receptionists never answer the phone. I requested female Dr and was given a male.

Never had a problem getting through on the phone - ok you might have to wait if they’re busy. Always been helpful. Don’t often have to see doctor - was surprised I was able to get a next day appointment. Everyone helpful and efficient.

I wish I could leave a more accurate review in terms of the service from the GP’s however when I phone them I never get through to the reception team and in the rare case that I do, I am always told to “phone back later” or “call again tomorrow morning” and when I do, I still cannot get through. I was registered with them for 9 months and recently changed due to their lack of availability.
