The food was really great if a little pricey.£32 for a Roast dinner might be okay if the service was not so mediocre. At this price it should be slick and seamless. How difficult would it be to simply up sell to everyone when one person requests a glass of wine...Kudos though to the member of staff that went to the next door restaurant to find some non alcoholic beer when they had run out.The question is though why was this not taken care of at start of service.

The grouse season opens on Aug 12 and apparently the JH has had it available on the menu since the 16th. I enjoyed mine on Aug 22 and it was excellent. Cheese board was also very good and the sommelier's recommendation of a sancerre pinot noir was spot on. For the second night in a row, I had the pleasure of being looked after by a delightful Canadian woman in a British gastro-pub. Unexpected, but fun. Only concern - truly inedibly salty cabbage as the veg, hence the 4/5 for food. I didn't eat it past the first forkfull, please don't tell my kids....

Subject: Disappointing lunch Experience at Jacket Hare RestaurantDear Management,I trust this message finds you well. I recently dined at your establishment and, while the ambiance and menu intrigued me, I feel compelled to express my disappointment with the overall experience.Upon arrival, I ordered 4 starters along with a sparkling water. Regrettably, the service fell short of expectations. The wait time for four starters was considerably lengthy, approximately 20-30minutes, which, in my understanding of the hospitality industry, is below the professional standard.I acknowledge the challenges that can arise in a busy restaurant, yet I believe that customer satisfaction should remain a priority. Unfortunately, the delay and subsequent departure of my companion left us with a less than favorable impression. In the spirit of constructive feedback, I encourage a review of the service timelines and efficiency to ensure a more seamless experience for patrons. I value the potential for improvement and hope that this input contributes to the ongoing success of The Jugged Hare.Thank you for your attention to this matter, and I appreciate your understanding.Sincerely,KJ

The food is by far the best I had on this trip to London!!! The haggis Scotch eggs are NOT to be missed!!! A must have, along with the black pudding croquettes!

Such a gem of a place, the food is fantastic and seasonal which brings something new every time we go there. The Sunday roast beef was melt in the mouth, and veggies cooked just enough to retain flavour and a bit of a bite. Staff were welcoming, courteous and very attentive, we were lucky to find a table even without a booking (note to self, book on a Sunday!).

Had a lovely Sunday roast here last weekend. My partner said its the best roast he's ever had! The staff were lovely and the manager made sure they were able to accommodate my dietary requirements :)

Excellent and tasty meats but also very well cooked vegetables. Good cask ale selection served at the right temperature. Also enjoyed the friendly atmosphere and very kind staff.

Went here for a Christmas meal. The Christmas menu was £65 for 3 courses which is quite expensive, and the quality of the food just wasn’t up to scratch. It was average at best. The roast was quite pathetic looking, and was missing several key components like stuffing, a yorkshire pudding, parsnips etc. The gravy was tasteless and too thin.Soup was lovely, but then again it is just soup. The sticky toffee pudding was nice but they gave the tiniest amount of ice cream with it.Extremely expensive overall - a glass of white wine was £10+Smelt absolutely awful downstairs where the toilets are located. The stench is so strong, you can smell it before you even get to the toilets. The decor is quite creepy with loads of dead taxidermy animals everywhere. Made me feel quite uncomfortable, especially the pig heads.Wouldn’t recommend and wouldn’t go back here. Nicer pubs in the city with better food, which aren’t so expensive.

Probably one of the best meals of my life. Order the Jugged Hare signature dish. The Bloody Mary was fantastic. Would fly back to London for this meal.

A group of us went for the Sunday roast. Unfortunately it was disappointing. We each tried different versions of it (beef, pork, lamb, chicken), mine was the beef (pictured). Only the chicken was tender, the beef, pork and lamb were all very tough and chewy, difficult to even cut with a knife. Flavor was ok but if you can't get it down your throat then what's the point? Really wanted to like it but sorry to say we won't be back.
