The Bishop & The Bison
We stayed for one night. Our room was nice, but the ensuite hadn't been cleaned on the floor as there was hair behind the door and in the shower. The shower wasn't very powerful but did the job. Bed was comfy. The owner was welcoming and helpful. Breakfast was nice and filling. There is parking for 3 cars at the side but you need to book this. The location is good if you don't mind walking to the centre. It's about a 15 min walk with a few bars between to call in.

I cannot but praise the hospitality received by Jonathan and Anthony, two pure professionals as to they manage their bed and breakfast. All is perfectly studied in details and nothing is left to chance. The rooms are wide and cleaned every day and breakfast is freshly cooked. They deserve success as to commitment, organisation and vibe you can breath in their hospitality. Danilo

An excellent choice as a base for York and environs. The best part of this B&B was host Jonathan. He was friendly, welcoming, engaging, helpful with information and recommendations, and a pure delight. The location was very good provided you don't mind walking a bit to center York (we didn't). Parking was available (and used). The establishment was tastefully and artfully decorated. Our 2nd floor room was very quiet. Unfortunately, we were there during a heat wave (80s and high humidity), so the room was somewhat uncomfortable even with a fan (which helped a lot). The ground and 1st floors were not as warm. That kind of heat and humidity was an unusual event for York I'm told. The bathroom was small (to be expected in a converted house). The corner shower was tiny and water flow wasn't great. Breakfast (mainly ham and egg selections) was good but lacked any fresh fruit or baked items.

Stayed for my wife's 30th birthday. Lovely B&B decorated and kept to a high standard. Superb hosts, Johnathan was warm and welcoming and did all he could to make our stay perfect. Communication prior to check was the best we've experienced. Looking forward to returning to stay at The Bishop and Bison again.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at The Bishop & The Bison in York and I cannot recommend it highly enough. The accommodation is simply superb - the room was small but confortable, clean, and beautifully decorated, with all the amenities you could possibly need for a comfortable and enjoyable stay. The location is perfect - while it is a 15-minute walk away from the hustle and bustle of the city center, it's definitely worth it as you get a quiet location away from the center noise. Whether you're interested in exploring the history and culture of the area, or simply want to relax and soak up the atmosphere of this beautiful city, The Bishop & The Bison is the perfect base. The breakfast served each morning is absolutely amazing - delicious, freshly cooked, local ingredients and beautifully presented. Jonathan, the host and Anthony in the kitchen, were an absolute delight - friendly, helpful, and full of great advice and recommendations for things to see and do in York.Overall, I can't recommend The Bishop & The Bison highly enough. It's the perfect place to stay for anyone looking for a comfortable and enjoyable experience in York.

Probably the most charming B&B I have EVER stayed in!You can see love and care in every single corner of this house! Jonathan was such a amazing host, and an amazing cook too!A little reference... do you know how Ariel from The Little Mermaid gets swallowed by the mattress the first time she laid down on a bed? That was literally me on the 2 nights I stayed here! Really, the bed was SO comfortable that it made consider buy a new mattress when I got back home.Thank you again for such a lovely stay! <3

Had a day out in York with my partner. So glad we did. Birthday treat for him. We have never been so relaxed. Met by Jonathan on arrival. Very professional yet friendly and informative. Wow what a lovely boutique hotel. Beautiful room, comfy warm beds, immaculately clean room with everything you could wish for. To top it off the most high quality tasty full English breakfast I've ever had. I was so relaxed I didn't want to leave. Thank you so much Jonathan for a first class experience. Even though we are 1 1/2 hours away, we will definitely visit York again soon and book in here. Thank you Jonathan X

My husband and I absolutely loved our recent stay at The Bishop and The Bison! It is only a short walk from the train station and the York Minster (the walk by the river is beautiful). Our host, Jonathan, was incredibly warm and welcoming and gave us tips on what to see and eat in York and in Edinburgh (the next stop on our trip). The vibe is relaxing, sophisticated, and cozy with really neat decor and lovely details everywhere you look. Our bed was one of the most comfortable beds we have ever slept in at a hotel or bed and breakfast and the breakfast was absolutely delicious and made-to-order by Jonathan. We also enjoyed meeting Princess Lily, the adorable and sweet hostess kitty. We highly recommend staying at The Bishop and The Bison!

From the moment we arrived, Jonathon hosted us perfectly. He helped us to our rooms, booked us in for breakfast, recommended places to eat.My room was lovely and cosy, with a comfy bed, cute wee en-suite and was so quiet. Opposite was a lovely lounge with quirky and fun features, which we sat in a lot.Breakfast was delicious with a varied menu. A great cook.Dining room was relaxed and welcoming, just off the immaculate kitchen, which we could see. Ambient music, loads of advice on places to visit, how to quickly access the city and basically a brilliant experience all-round.All of the parties staying that weekend had a birthday to celebrated and Jonathon gifted each a card, some chocolate and had also organised cakes as requested my one couple. We took ours and he also laid those out beautifully.I doubt I will stay anywhere else now, when I visit the city.
