Afternoon tea experience. Booked table for five people. On arrival we were left waiting in the reception hall . No staff. Had to go in search to find someone. Was then escorted to a very small booth only big enough for three. Asked for a table suitable for five. Was then moved. Asked for coffee, coffee arrived with cold milk. Asked for hot milk, hot milk arrived in a gravy boat. Very odd. Cakes great, sandwiches great but a very small amount. It was a special occasion but it did not feel special at all. Shame.

This is a beautiful hotel in beautiful grounds and with a lovely, relaxing spa. More importantly, all the staff consistently went out of their way to ensure that we had an amazing time on our first hotel trip with our little one. Couldn't have asked for more.

A really beautiful spa with excellent staff. We regularly treat ourselves to spa days, and this was up their with the best. Not cheap but excellent from start to finish. The treatments were professional and thorough, I had an excellent massage. The cream tea after was also high quality. The hotel looked lovely but we didn't stay so can't rate rooms ( though intend to in the future!).

An absolutely tremendous experience! The service was faultless. Every single person greeted us with cheer and kindness. It was true enthusiasm, the bedroom was immaculate. The food was scrumptious and saving the best till last the spa was absolute tranquility! I can nit wait to stay again.

Disappointing visit to The Elms. My wife was given vouchers for afternoon tea as a birthday gift so we decided to take her mum and step-dad along a couple of weeks ago. Whilst the 'tea' itself was satisfactory I was firstly disappointed to be charged £3.25 for a glass of lemonade in lieu of a pot of tea but more disappointed by the so called service charge we were hit with at the end. There is no mention of this on the menu provided nor on the vouchers received. I was expecting to pay £28 for 1 afternoon tea (the other 3 were covered by the vouchers), this was then increased to £31.25 including the exchanged glass of lemonade and this is the figure that was on the screen when I tapped my card so I was extremely annoyed when I checked my bank account to find £43.89 had been deducted. I called in to query the difference as was told it was probably due to the service charge (which is discretionary apparently) and I should have been advised - they could not explain why I was shown £31.25 and a supervisor would look into it and get in touch. That was 17th October, it's now 26th and I am still waiting. Won't be visiting again and recommend people query the amount be charged to their card before leaving the premises.

Could not access spa until 3pm. Got sent to bar area but not enough staff.Very loud group of young girls having pool party, mothers did not take their parental responsibility. Did not provide tranquil environment as publicised.Staff at dinner did not understand the menu well. Room was adequate but not superior! Business is heavily resting on its laurels of both location and holding best of awards! Recent poor trip advisor reviews are very accurate indeed.

I was always hearing about the Elms being the best, don't get me wrong it was nice but did not live up to my expectations.Firstly spa needs a good overall clean, need someone checking hourly removing dirty glasses from the coffee area. They need to be checking the rooms before guest arrive, making sure there it's spotless ( no hair in the bath) . Dust in the vents. No flies in the rooms.Staff are lovely and helpful. Food is great. Grounds lovely. Gym ok useable. Just a few thinks let this place down.

We attended for our anniversary with the overnight stay package. We thoroughly enjoyed our quality time together. The location and ambience is beautiful. The Elms is set within a quiet, picturesque environment. The Greenhouse spa is intimate in nature but tranquil with exceptional interiors. The package provided is value for money. Our opulent room provided just that. It was clean, decadent and vast. I definitely want the bed for our home. I think that the curtains did not fit with the overall opulence of the room and clashed somewhat. We were exceptionally pleased to enter our room and see a happy anniversary detail. We were pleased with the service provided by the front desk staff who were very accommodating. We ate our evening meal at the Badgers. It is intimate but the service from staff was poor. It was evident that the young staff were inexperienced and lacked fine dining etiquette. The service was not to the standard of the rest of the hotel and the food was to be desired and differed from the menu online and in the Elms newspaper which was disappointing. Some of our meal options were missing. One member of staff was changing the breakfast juices in front of staff using cartoned drink. The staff need further training to ensure quality service for dining. That being said, the continental breakfast was satisfying and well presented.Overall, the hotel is beautiful and worth a visit. With changes in service, you can have a five star experience.

We stayed here the day after our wedding and it was wonderful. Huge attention to detail on the decor and the restaurant and spa are very good. We stayed in the Abberley Suite which is easily the nicest hotel room I’ve ever stayed in.It’s worth being aware that you can only use the spa during your actual hours of stay, which I think is 3PM to 11AM the following day. But it is fantastic, so make sure you do! It has great facilities with free water, coffee and fruit and is exquisitely decorated.
