Guitar Lessons by Paul Bayley

I was lucky to find Paul when I took the plunge with guitar lessons a few years ago. I was a complete beginner so was a little apprehensive, however Paul has been endlessly patient and has a very encouraging teaching style, never asking or expecting more than the student can aspire to. He has taken me from beginner to intermediate which is a fantastic achievement and testament to his teaching skills, but most of all the lessons are always fun as Paul is such a good guy as well as a fine instructor. Highly recommended!

Paul has a wonderfully informal approach to teaching guitar which makes it fun from the start. He is really good at helping you to gradually build the skills you need. I found that I very quickly progressed from a modest base.

Paul has a terrific knowledge of the guitar and is a very natural teacher, able to teach all different styles. He has developed both my musical knowledge and my playing ability, and I learn something new every week from our lessons. I particularly value the way he can teach a lesson, and then summarise everything we've covered in a few minutes at the end, which I can take away and work with. I can't recommend him highly enough.

I have been taking regular guitar lessons with Paul now for around 6 years so obviously I'll recommend him very highly. He is a lovely player and has been able to accommodate pretty much any style from jazz to blues to rock all the way back to delta blues, that I've asked him to help me with. I came to Paul with pretty rudimentary understanding and he has helped me improve and expand my musical vocabulary, confidence and repertoire dramatically. Thoroughly nice chap, accommodating, flexible, excellent value, Strongly recommended.

I've been priviliged to have known Paul for over an year now and one thing I can say for sure is that he has a true passion for teaching. He combines this with his extensive musical knowledge, several years of teaching experience, an amazing understanding of his pupil's needs, great patience and enthusiasm to make every lesson enjoyable. His lessons are incomparable to any instructional DVD, youtube video or musical app (e.g usician or tabpro).In my opinion, Paul always imparts a lot more than just teaching a musical piece. He constantly encourages me to come up with improvisations and combine ideas I have mastered. Within a very short period of time, we started jamming and I have composed some solos! This has had a profound effect in my learning as it rapidly built my confidence with the guitar, developing my musical ear and my understanding of the temporal elements of playing with another guitarist. Throughout, this short period of time, I have developed all the essential motor skills, for example, fluid chord changes, playing barre chords, walking basslines, string bending and vibrato without going through boring, mechanical exercises. Now I can confidently use these techniques and I'm developing them further with Paul's help.Paul's virtuosity with the guitar is only matched by his enthusiasm to teach and I can wholeheartedly recommend Paul for anyone who wishes not only to learn to play guitar, but also has aspirations of becoming a professional musician.
