We are moving to Scarborough from London and rang Stuart to discuss a house survey. We were immediately impressed and booked a provisional date for the survey. Stuart then liaised with the estate agents to arrange access and kept us informed of progress. This is second time I have used Stuart Emerson for a flat purchase in Scarborough. Each time his surveys have been clear and detailed. As a property solicitor practicing in West Yorkshire for over 30 years, I come across surveyors on a daily basis in my area and can easily differentiate between good and bad ones. Stuart is thorough and always has time to take calls and respond to further questions. He delivers reports in good time and is punctual on his promises. Stuart carried out a Homebuyers Survey for me on a property in North Yorkshire. He was recommended to me and offered an excellent service from initial verbal communication through to presenting the final written report. All carried out in the agreed timescale and I would recommend him most highly.

A total waste of time and money. Interestingly our previous review was removed, says it all, but nonetheless. He failed to spot various issues, which would of been a deciding factor in us buying our house! We paid £360 in good faith that Stuart would properly survey and inspect a property we were buying, and point out any misgivings. In the end, we paid him to take a quantity of photographs and write a few sentences in summary. The report itself came with numerous errors, which I had to point out. He remarked that there was no evidence of cracks above load bearing doors, it later transpired this was the case for the vast majority of them, i.e they all had cracks. He remarked all windows were of satisfactory standard. One of them, the frame itself isn't even level, and the window certainly isn't and we have been informed the only resolution is to have the window replaced. Above one window in one bedroom was a soft spot, and bowed plaster. Stuart dismissed this as theses sorts of houses aren't the rolls royces you are maybe expecting"......he said I should "stop worrying". It later transpired that this was due to missing sealant on the outside so big a window fitter could fit two fingers in. This was letting in a pool of water

Stuart’s knowledgeable advice, and professional expertise was an enormous help in our property search. His availability to discuss issues and explain in further detail particulars thrown up by his Survey Report was equally impressive. Would recommend highly and will definitely use again.
