Before I start, I will just say that the receptionist was absolutely lovely, but that’s the only good part of my experience.I phoned and made an appointment for my ferret, as they advertise first and foremost that they treat exotics. I was told that the vet I was seeing was used to dealing with ferrets, so I was well pleased.Unfortunately, just as I was leaving home to go to the appointment, I received a phone call to say that I cannot attend as I’m not already a client and they aren’t taking on at the moment. They also went on to say that they don’t see exotic animals, so completely contradicted what their overview on Google says.Never mind Shield, I’ve now found someone else to take my animals to and believe me, there’s a lot of them, so you’re the ones who are going to be missing out in the long run.

Firstly I would like to say the reception team are lovely and very friendly and were so great at the start but unfortunately, I was given contradicting information and misled. I registered my new puppy and set up the monthly pet plan and booked her 1st health check which was in 2 weeks' time. I had noticed some dry skin but nothing concerning but I thought I would try my luck to see if I could bring the appointment forward 1 to have her health checked and 2 so she could have her 1st vaccine as she was eager to get outside and I was told she had to wait until she had the 2nd vaccine and waited 1 week. I was told there were no appointments but if I phoned in the morning some appointments were left over. I did this the next morning and got an appointment the same day when I arrived I explained it was my puppy 1st health check and that I had set up the plan and she was quickly looked over and confirmed she did have dry skin and that I should get some coconut oil and that was that. I asked if she could have her vaccine and I was advised it was best to wait until the original appointment in 2 weeks.A few weeks later she had her 1st vaccine and we were waiting for the 2nd I was sent an email with a bill for £64! I called up straight away to question what this was for and I was informed this was for her medical" appointment. I explained the above to the receptionist who said she would speak to the clinical director to see what could be done as it appeared I had been misled to believe that by calling on the day there was a possibility I could bring her free health check forward when actually this was for a paid appointment.This is still ongoing and the clinic director has not once bothered to contact me

Excellent veterinary practice. The staff are all knowledgeable on the desk and I always get a quick response from emails.I’d definitely recommend them to friends and family.

Shield veterinary staff are always friendly, professional and welcoming. Their practice is always clean and pleasant for our pets. They take good care of our animals and we know they are in safe hands.

The reception staff were friendly on the phone and in person, I don’t feel rushed.The vet was very kind and really took time to make my pet feel comfortable which I really appreciated and in turn made me feel at ease.I feel that the vets at this practice are very passionate about what they do and really have my pet’s health and happiness in mind.

Absolutely awful!! We took our puppy here and taking her out after only a few weeks. We were completely mislead about payment by the receptionists and because none of the calls are recorded we were forced to pay with no understanding. We attempted to sort it out 3 times and was expecting calls back but instead, continued to receive letters threatening to take it to the debt collector instead. Also, we took our puppy in for her 2nd vaccine and the experience was not great at all, majority of the injection ended up on the table, very poor as our experience started off well.

Alan and Simon are the best! Have been using these vets for a very long time very trustworthy very thorough very kind highly recommend these vets

Happy friendly people, that charge an arm and a leg, but take care of your pets.

If you have a fur baby and they need medical help then this is the place to take them. The whole team from the ladies on the desk to the Nurses & Doctors go above and beyond to help your pet. They are always available if you need advice on telephone or just walk in. They treat your fur baby with love & respect.
