Montgomery House
My Mum had the best care at Montgomery House and I feel it was the care from the wonderful staff that Mum lasted as long as she did 101 years young when she pasted away, the communication was good as well as I live overseas.

I can not speak highly enough of the staff, the care and the wonderful facilities at Montgomery house. I feel very upset at the report that was published in the Shropshire Star. My family member was on the Haughmond ward. The staff were so caring and the care received was of a high standard. The atmosphere was that of a family unit.I spent most days visiting and over a long period of time and feel I am qualified to say that we as a family were delighted with Montgomery House. The unit is light and spacious well equipped and very modern. The bed rooms all have state of the arc air beds. The bathrooms are modern and very clean. There is a secure garden to each ground floor unit. I hope that people will go and have a look for them shelves, talk to the staff. You will be pleasantly surprised.

My Dad has been in Montgomery House since December. Very caring staff. Nothing too much trouble. Can't fault them.

My mum was in Montgomery House for 4 months. She had dementia, but was classed as residential so she was on Wrekin unit. The staff were unfriendly, apart from 2 members of staff who I found to be lovely and caring. The staff didn’t know how to treat someone with dementia even though there were other residents with dementia on this unit. A member of family turned up to visit mum one day and she was sitting in the lounge half dressed. Spoke to a member of staff about it and it was blamed on the night staff. On many visits mum would be in dirty clothes or not have her buzzer on. It was found under her bed on two occasions.My mum was at high risk of dehydration but the staff didn’t know how to spot these signs. Too many agency staff on the unit, staff need more training in aspects of care as well how to smile and be friendly.Very little interaction with residents from the staff. In the very hot weather the residents were not offered enough cold drinks, which led to my mum becoming seriously dehydrated, even though the staff were aware of this. It took the family to draw attention to this. Mum ended up in hospital very poorly. The management tell you what you want to hear but don’t do anything.While mum was in hospital we looked for another care home. We didn’t want mum to return to Montgomery House as we had no confidence in them.The residents are real people and deserve the care they need.Yes the home is lovely and clean and the decor bright, but the care isn’t there.Mum sadly passed away 3 weeks after coming out of hospital as she didn’t fully recover from being so ill.

We had our father in Montgomery I will start with the Good first The specialist unit staff are great the rooms are clean and the hygiene excellent and the communal areas are lovely. However there is an air ofunfriendliness in particular from the front desk staff. The manageress came across as distant cold and uncaring and had a very matter of fact manor. This was one of the reasons why we moved our dad away from the unit. I felt unwanted as a visitor.Today we were advised in his best interests to move him back into Montgomery Emi unit as they knew him. He has recently become more agitated and on occasions aggressive. However The manageress has said she cant take him there because she had new patients/residents in, that he would upset her new residence that have just arrived and she has to use her discretion and put them first ? !We asked for the right support and help and were turned away by the manageress. Qualified staff are there to help people with dementia and there is a space however he was promptly refused without thought.
