Holiday Inn Portsmouth, an IHG Hotel

Rooms were clean and tidy, but food and service were shockingly bad, No sausage and bacon one morning, and when you are paying above average for breakfast, it should be there. Day 2: No croissants, and I was served the most vile poached egg ever it was not edible. There wasn't enough experienced staff to support and train the new staff. They were friendly. Pool and jacuzzi was a lovely addition.

The whole hotel needs a bit of a refurbishment. The rooms were a bit tired but clean. The bathroom was really small. I am not a small person so was slightly difficult in that small space. We tablet booking of food at dinner was a bit confusing. Would have preferred just to speak and order from someone. The staff were really friendly though especially the lady at breakfast. She was energetic. The hotel was full and therefore the parking was a bit of a lottery. I had to park in the street but luckily there was space and I was leaving before 8 am.

Standard rooms can be small but the excellent location and great customer service makes us return year after year. Nice friendly bar and restaurant and plenty of parking (if you're here early enough!). Standard room bathrooms are on the micro small side and its a bit of a squeeze when using it.

Great staff. Very decent hotel and rooms.The only hiccup is the horrendous car park: cramped, no visible signs and markings, not large enough to accommodate all customers. You end up more than often parking on the streets.Still, it has nice rooms and a swimming pool.

This hotel is not the prettiest of buildings but it does boast 6 floors of accommodation. Parking places are numerous but limited and charged at £5 per day. Rooms are the typical basic, no frills, type that you would expect from this type of chain hotel. The rooms were a generous size, reasonably clean and comfortable enough. Facilities include a bar, restaurant and swimming pool. The food quality was variable but on the whole fairly good. What made the stay was the staff, all of which were friendly, attentive and engaging.

Overall a good hotel and one we would definitely use again. Carpark is not very big, we managed to get a space four out of our five night stay at £5.00 a night. One night we had to park on the road but with a special ticket provided by the hotel.

I'd love to recommend this hotel but unfortunately the management/customer service really let it down.The service staff are excellent however.We had our wedding here and had multiple issues with them giving us things at incorrect (too high) prices which we then had to explain for them to give us the correct price.The wedding was great they were very accommodating on the day.The day after however, our stuff was picked up, as we were told it had to be collected the day after, they were not given the remaining wedding cake. Despite multiple emails and attempts to get the cake they finally told us it was thrown after the day after as it wasn't collected and they tried to blame the people who collected it for us and even said they were not collected until the three days after which is incredible to say.Anyway, staff are nice, location nice, shame about the management and the price.
