What a shambolic start to the academic year. 3 weeks in and my son does still not know who his tutor is, have a timetable or know which days he is required to attend. All attempts to get a response from the college have proved circular and fruitless. Regretting choosing this college.

This is a review for the restaurant at city College Plymouth called PL1 which is underneath the main catering building, where the chefs of tomorrow learnthey’re amazing trades and for a few days a week cook fantastic food for you to go along and try all going through the main pass, which is Controlled by a tutor of long time experience, the food is amazing produce is all locally sourced so go along and give your support for the chefs of tomorrow who need to practice and feed you, they do lunch as well and is very very reasonably priced so you can enjoy the finest food on a limited budget. Please go along and support them, I have been twice and will be going back again.

I joined in 2020 to do diploma in performing arts which was a 2 year course. Before i started i was told by a member of staff that its free because it was my first ever level 3 but then during the second year i had the admin telling me that i had to pay for the second year of the course when we were already half way through the year. At the end it was a good course but a few things let this college down. The first is the admin hub as they are not quick or efficient enough to get the right documents done. The second is some of the staff members, in the second year we put on a panto and a musical for our last 2 shows. We did a audition process but little did we know that before the audition the lectures already had a cast list for who they wanted to play each part. I think some of them are a bit biest and pick there favourites without seeing anyone else peform the part.

This is the best place of education I have ever been. The teachers are very helpful and supportive. No wonder why City College has been ranked Number 1 in the South West to get a qualification you want.

I did a level 3 game development course here from 2020 to 2022 and it was rubbish. The course was really unorganized due to a lack of staff. It seemed the course was always a lower priority than the higher-level courses for game development (the same staff taught the higher level as well). While I think the higher levels should obviously have higher priority than the level I took I think it shouldn't have been to the degree it was. I think they should have had a lot more staff to accommodate all the courses they ran. Also, I found this course was not what I was expecting at all. Basically, all of the course was based on research with not much actual teaching. I would say maybe 15% of my learning came from the lecturers, which I think is wrong. I have learnt more from my lecturers in my uni course within the first term about game development than from my time spent here from lecturers. I think the way the course was graded is wrong as well, you were graded on the written work you produced and not the practical work you did. So for example you could have focused on producing a great game but that wouldn't matter because you were not graded on it. Overall from my experience if you are looking to do game development maybe look elsewhere.

Worst place to study. I applied for welding course level 2 and waited nearly two months for the class to start then I attended to my first class they said I wasn't on the list and the lady who is in charge said I'm very sorry I haven't seen your email. Now I have to wait a year for the next welding course

We have just been for Christmas lunch at Pl1 within the college and I have to say what a great meal, great service and great venue it was. The young people were a credit to you all and we will be back soon. Thank you!!
