About the Business

Home | We are located in the lovely Brecon Beacons National Park area of South Wales. The sanctuary rescues and provides a home for many types of unwanted animals, especially primates, such as chimpanzees, baboons, spider monkeys, vervets, capuchins, macaques, tamarins and marmosets. Although we specialise in the care and protection of primates we cannot stand by and see other animals in need of help. You will therefore find African savannah cats, meerkats, wolf dogs, horses, donkeys, pigs and others at our sanctuary. All are equally important members of our extended family.

Great morning out at a lovely animal rescue sanctuary. Nice to see these wonderful animals being looked after and treated well. The buggy ride to see the Highland cows is worth it too. Lovely to support a fantastic cause.

What an amazing place to visit. Makes sad reading as to how the animals got there, but you can see how well all the animals are looked after . It's a must for anyone in the area

Lovely afternoon visit the staff are friendly. The work they do here is amazing and will definitely be returning missed the new ride to visit the Highland cows by a day. Plenty of seating areas for picnics and a small shop that helps raise funds to run the sanctuary.

We had a really nice time here. Some of the reviews on here are off putting but we decided to decide for ourselves and so glad we did :) We had a lovely welcome from the lady at the ticket office - good amount of parking. Its bigger than it looks on arrival and we felt the animals had a decent amount of space to play. There are plenty of picnic tables around for a pit stop or picnic. A small selection of drinks are available to buy. There are signs on some of the animals on their amazing / sad journeys. Please do remember, this is a sanctuary and these amazing animals have been rescued - its not a zoo, so don't expect frills or theme rides... just enjoy their beauty and the fact they are safe and your ticket money is helping this charity. Keep up the good work all! Well worth the visit! ❤️* flat and doable with pushchair*please don't take your dogs as it causes distress to some of the animals (as we witnessed for ourselves)

Cute secluded little sanctuary with a massive purpose, each of their residents has their own little personalities from kaiser the dog to toto the incredible gorilla.Would spend all day here rain or shine. There is a huge secondhand book shop in the reception aswell. If you have a book addiction here is the place for it.

Worse than a zoo. Cages are far too small and I feel so sorry for the animals kept in these prisons. Maybe instead of buying range rovers with private licence plates you could make adequate space for the animals in your care".Look at this cage for example. Why is there so much grass and wasted space outside of it. The cage could have been so much bigger. This feels like more of a business than a sanctuary. I wish I'd never given my money to you people.Seeing the wolf pace round its small enclosure for the duration of my visit was heartbreaking. After reading other reviews

The sanctuary itself you could probably walk around within 20-30mins, there is nothing to overwhelming and seems compact. But, it was still enjoyable. Some of the monkeys were quite sad, or seemed it. I think with places like this, it's important to remember it's a sanctuary first, and not necessarily a zoo. I think for an hour or two out it's good.

They do great work at Wales Ape & Monkey sanctuary and need all the help they can get. The weather wasn't very kind when we were there but the staff were friendly and helpful and the facilities were clean.

Great place to visit. Have visited here many times when I travel to South Wales from the USA. They really care for the animals, this you can see. I’m glad they are expanding. We tried out the buggy rides to see the highland cows, that was fun and new.

Myself and my partner decided to do a last minute visit.....we are so glad we did!!!!It's a brilliant run sanctuary all the animals are so well cared for and look very happy living there best lives now!The staff are the friendliest people, we had a chat with most of them throughout the day as we wandered around. They have great picnic areas throughout the park, plenty of places to sit and enjoy the animals around you while you eat.I would highly recommend a visit it's a great day out for all ages.
