Great place to walk the mutt or a run up telly tubby hill. Brilliant routes down to the shore and some good parking. Council do a very good job keeping maintained and clean.

On approaching the bench from the east I was struck by its majestic carved form. It could have been carved for King Alfred to rest his weary body after an epic victory over the Vikings, with two extra seats, perhaps for Ealhswith and Asser too sit alongside him.Then I sat down and realised that it looks out over a patch of grass, an ugly concrete ventilation thingie and the birdsong is largely drowned out by the drone of the A14. Meh.
