Great place to see a range of species. Need a key from National Trust in exchange for a deposit but well worth it. Great to relax enjoy the views. Only downside is that some local fishermen set up directly in front of hide showing no consideration...

Great place for birders but you need a key. These are available from the National Trust. Or knock politely and if I'm in there I'll let you in. Decent sized flocks of wading birds sometimes have a scarcity or rarity tagging along. Careful scanning is the only way.

National Trust Barmouth Bird Hide
Place might be best for bird lovers but not for general people. I mean birds won't be around you so you can see them easily. No point in visiting if you don't have any necessary things with you to watch birds. Also, no cafe or toilets nearby so plan ahead.

Very pleasant scenes with plenty of birds to see. To go into the actual keep you need a key but you can see man made paths around the outside which I'm sure are just as good views as the keep. It was a nice stop on the way to portstewart strand.

What a beautiful place at the start of portstewart beach, you cant get into the hut without being a member of the national trust which was a bit disappointing, as it was locked and noone about. I think members can acquire a key for £5 if memory serves me right. Still worth a view anyways had a great walk around with the dog

National Trust Barmouth Bird Hide
Beautiful place on the Bank of the Rive Bann.At low tide there is a wide variety of birds on the mud flats.Access to the hide is by key holders only.Park at the railway gates and walk down.It is a burden sanctuary so dogs must be kept on the lead.

What a find. Google directed me here instead of Port Stewart Strand! A pleasant walk and refreshing to be by the river and in beautiful countryside. I didn't go as far as the bird hide, I'll explore it next time
