The Slaughters Country Inn
Went here for Sunday lunch and at £32 for two courses and £37 for three, I was expecting something special. I was disappointed. The actual food was okay but nothing to shout about and the service was good if not a bit slow, but the quantity of food supplied was stingy and for the price should have been better. The Hake I was served was basically four mouth fulls and very disappointing. The Roast Pork, my wife had, was cooked nicely but half the plate was covered by a Yorkshire pudding. The veg was good but again, scarce and a small bowl with extra cabbage did not make it up !Plates came with a blob" of a light yellow mustard type substance

Lovely English establishment in Lower Slaughter. Fantastic location. We went for Afternoon Tea and it was really nice. Service was very good and friendly. Gardens are beautiful. Well worth a visit.

Very slow service, mediocre and overpriced food. The toilet smelt awful and clearly hadn't been cleaned for a long time. The village is delightful and the pub has quaint low ceilings, but this restaurant was a big disappointment.

This review is for a lunch visit rather than the hotel. As good a fish and chips I've had. Flakey cod, crispy better, chunky chips. Excellent grub. Tried some of kids ham and cheese toasties and these were top notch.Staff couldn't have been friendlier serving our big, loud, extended family.Beautiful setting and grounds.

The Slaughters Country Inn
Really rude young bar man. We went there to have a quick lunch as the place looked really stunning. We were told that its all full event though all the tables inside were empty. The older gentleman was nice and wanted to accommodate us but the young and rude gentleman refused even though we said we only going to be there for a quick lunch. Terrible service for a place that suppose to be welcoming to tourists.

Excellent Bar and Food. Having ventured out from Bourton due the massive crowds, this was an excellent find with fantastic grounds and garden area. The staff were amazing. On walking in, my 3 Yr old was supplied with a crayon pack and colouring book before even finding somewhere to sit. They were exceptionally busy, and as we prepared to sit outside in the slightly typical British summer weather, a member of staff came to get us to ask if we would prefer to sit in with having our child with us and that they would find us somewhere. They gave us a great location in the bar. So for the staff alone throughout, this venue is worth the 5 stars. However, it gets better. The food was excellent. We had a variation from Afternoon tea to Fish and chips. Pasta dish and Childs Burger meal. Everything was quite clearly homemade and fantastic, even down to the Tartar sauce for the fish and the still warm freshly made scones. I do not think you could find a better place to eat in the area. Highly recommended visit. Will be using again.

The Slaughters Country Inn
The most stunning country Cotswolds pub, little bit off the beaten track but well worth the trip, idyllic setting by the river and the cosiest open roaring fire with big comfy sofas. Food was unreal and service was fantastic. A true gem of a pub 15/10

A beautiful estate set alongside the River Eye in a quaint part of the Cotswolds. The Slaughters Country Inn in Lower Slaughter we had somewhat partly chosen initially as a great central base for the five nights we were there to then drive off and or walk in every direction to see the surrounding towns / areas. It turned out to be a real gem itself !The estate as a whole was unbelievably good - old charm throughout the main building with expansive grass areas surrounding to take a pint from the pub within the hotel pub outside and enjoy the weather.the River Eye and Lower Slaughter town itself was magic. A picturesque small town and if the weather is perfect, you get stunning sunsets on the buildings, fields, river and surrounds. The staff overall were of a high standard throughout - especially the chap who runs the restaurant area by the looks ( for breakfast and lunch when we attended ). Very attentive, first class service and the rest of the staff throughout in all areas were of a equivalent level. As expected - breakfast was plentiful with a great menu, Sunday Roast is a must for lunch ! Pub for dinners were great, the rooms we had were decent in size with one being split over two levels & plenty of parking on site so you'll have no issues there as the town can get a few visitors throughout just for a day.

Visited the Pub, for a weekday lunch, and the service was very good and attentive. The food was good, a bit on the pricey end, but it was good quality. The location is probably the best as this is one of the only places with parking in this very touristy and beautiful town.

A quaint little hotel in an idyllic setting. Lovely small village with a river, church, village hall, and stone cottages. Choose from a variety of walks (from easy to challenging) to other villages. Our room was comfortable and quiet. The staff were helpful and friendly. We enjoyed all of our meals; there is both a dining room and a pub, plus an outside terrace. It's a bit challenging to get here without a car, but not impossible. If you need a taxi be sure to book far in advance - the hotel staff will help you - there are limited taxi companies and they book up quickly.
