Highlands Unbridled Trail Riding and Trekking Centre

I have been on one of the trail riding tours for 4 days and they’ve made a huge dream come true for me: discovering the Highlands of Scotland for the first time on horseback! With each day and route, we were shown even more spectacular views.Dominique, our riding leader, and Jan (owner) were super professional and very lovely! Dominique instructed us so well before we started the tour on the horses safety but also our own and made sure throughout the ride that it always stayed safe for rider and horse! I was very well pleased to see that the horses were all very relaxed and well trained, which for me was a big criteria to know before the ride and Jan and Dominique treated them very well (which shows in their relationship to the horses).The accommodations chosen were also very comfortable, lovely and clean! Throughout the tours each day we made sufficient breaks.Dominique and Jan always helped out preparing the horses before the rides, inbetween and also after which was super helpful.Thank you Highlands Unbridled for an unforgettable adventure! We went for a day ride with Dominique last weekend. I couldn’t recommend enough! The horses looked very happy and well cared for, the ride was beautiful and so much fun. When my friend and I got stuck in the nearby village before the ride, Dominique didn’t hesitate to come pick us up and then drop us off again. I hope to come back again when I can!

Wonderful experience riding into the wilderness of Sutherland on amazing Highland ponies. Incredible scenery and awesome guiding by Dominique across some challenging terrain. North Coast ride is a chance to experience the UK last true wilderness Sutherland first hand. Amazingly fit sturdy Highland ponies, long days when only the trail matters. Cosy hotels and good company and it didn’t even rain that much! Thank you for making this experience so special

If you want to be looked after before, after and during a trek? Then look no further. OK communication can be a little bit slow, but only when you get there, you can fully understand that you are in a connection blackspot.. so hats off for trying to run a ongoing business while taking people out and looking after them after.In my personal circumstance I had train problems on my way to the stables and through the help of Dom and my night in shining armor Jan they made every effort to get me there for my holiday..Thank you!!!Dom your such a great person, thank you for my farm stay experience, The farm stay holiday is a trek and not a race, especially in the heat for the horses. So I enjoyed the peaceful setting and I was lucky to have nice company from fellow riders. I hope you all have a great summer!

Working Holiday! 7 days of stunning rides! Jan has a wonderful farm with so many horses/ponies to choose to ride and a stunning area to explore. My sister and I had an unforgettable week at Highlands Unbridled. This was a really unique way to get some sister time, put in some fun farm work bonding time and horseback ride every day through Scottish woods and beaches...just perfect! Thank you Jan!

We had the most wonderful ride! Our guide was knowledgeable, considerate and on the mark with our riding abilities. Quite enjoyable day with stellar weather and guide to match. I rode Mae my husband on Brodie. Both appropriate mounts for us. All horse's that I saw were in fine condition and well cared for. I would certainly recommend taking a hack. My only regret is we didn't book a trek. Maybe next time. Thank you for the lovely opportunity to enjoy some of the Scotland Highlands on horseback!

Dom and Jan at Highlands Unbridled work their rears off and it shows! I went on the North Coast to Coast route and had a fabulous time! I met some great people and got to know a great horse. While it was challenging at times (I'm not used to riding 8 hours a day at mostly a walk!), I was prepared for that and felt so accomplished by the end. These riding holidays are all-encompassing to where you're forced to forget about work and home and all those stressors and focus on your mount, the terrain ahead of you, and the scenery.Fabulous Types 1 and 2 fun! Would absolutely do again, whether that's a day hack or a holiday trek.P.S. Thanks to Dom for the photos of my mount Catkin and myself!

I rode the 7-day Wild West Highlands Tour in August 2022, which was truly an unforgettable experience! I cannot recommend Highlands Unbridled enough and would do the tour, or any other ride, with them again any day.Dominique’s and Jan’s heartfelt passion for their horses and Scotland was on full display during our time together. My horse Maverick, a sturdy and characterful highland pony, was a friendly and trusty companion and great to ride in all gaits. All the horses are well-kept and healthy and their safety was a high priority during the tour, which also included an off-day for the horses (as well as the humans).The Wild West Highlands Tour was as challenging as it was rewarding. You will have some long days in the saddle, especially when crossing Glen Affric, in all kind of terrain and in all gaits. Dominique, the ride leader and our photography master, however, confidently guided us through all the tricky bits and prepared us well. Yet, not only should you have stamina and confidence in the saddle but also on foot with the horse, as you need to lead them through some difficult terrain. For that you will be rewarded with the amazing landscapes of remote parts of Scotland and an overall wonderful experience.If you look for a great horse experience you are in the right hands with Highlands Unbridled.
