Ely Registration Office

The most totally disappointing experience of my life! Our wedding was held here yesterday. We were all left waiting outside in freezing weather for ages as door was locked and staff had to escort us in. This was supposed to be due to covid but there was no one else in the building that we saw.The room they use for ceremonies doubles as a large office for most of the week, so office equipment is simply pushed to the side and partly hidden by an ugly chipboard screen. The space behind the table for signing the register is shelving stacked with books. As my husband and I first entered for pre wedding checks I was so upset at how grim the room was the lovely registrar actually asked if I wanted to call it off.I have no idea how they get away with charging over £500 for half an hour in that. To any other couples thinking of wedding here please don't. I cried on the way to my reception with disappointment and I can never replace what should have been the best day of my life.
