I visited today (29-Jun-15) and it was perfect throughout, smooth and friendly service, great food and generous portions. It might not hit Michelin Star levels, but it's pretty damn close. Tastecard 2for1 meant the bill for two with wine was £43. Perfect for an excellent midweek dinner and plenty of space suggests the weekend would be just as good.

Visiting for the football, the Townhouse was busy place, glad we booked as it was Friday night.Food was ok, staff excellent, would certainly return.

This was our second visit, our first a year ago had been superb.We arrived early evening ,18.30 and were greeted warmly by the wonderfully charming manager. We were led upstairs to our table. The waitress, knowledgeable and friendly gave us the menus and explained the daily specials.My wife and I chose from the set menu ( two courses £15 / three courses £18 ) To start I had the Caesar salad and my wife the chick pea and spinach fritters, both were delivered swiftly and tasted marvellous. To follow we both chose the rib eye steak served with mushroom, tomato, chips and salad. Again the service was swift and the food hot and tasty.An enjoyable experience which combined excellent attentive service and good food.

My absolute favourite place to dine in Ipswich. The service is very good and food is excellent. I can't recommend it highly enough and glad to see they are open again.

I have been to The Townhouse many times and always had very good service and food.The staff always make me feel welcome and the food is good quality. Good selection of wines and drinks.I would recommend this restaurant to anyone.

great place - been here for lunch and dinner a few times.really, really attentive and friendly staff and the food is great. good portions too.beware, you'll definitely want to leave a decent tip at the end of the meal.

Last time I went I thought that the A La Carte menu was pretty good but a little pricey for what it was. My friends opted for the set menu, which looked like overpriced pub grub to me. At the end of the evening I had to conclude that I made the right , although expensive, choice.

Poor - Meal preferences at time of booking ignored. Head waitress showing contempt behind back of diners in full view of other colleagues. Very slow service - gap between different meal selections.Poor service probably due to overbookingWill never use again, nor recommend
