Motel One Edinburgh Royal
Great location! Hotel full of tourists which is good. My room was at the back of the hotel overlooking the alleyway and stairs going up to the high street. This alley way is particularly noisy as it has two bars that have smoking areas leading onto the alley. The Loud human noise continued until the early hrs. It is Edinburgh city centre, so you expect some noise but until 2am is annoying! Breakfast was good with friendly staff. Bar okay but needs a good basic choice of Scotch!! Nothing special just a few more drinking blends and 5-6 malts.

Clean, quirky, friendly and very reasonable! Even had a luggage lift for my friend who’d injured her back right before the trip. I liked that the room had a security window but could still open for fresh air. Teapot with good assortment of tea n coffee, plenty of towels. Fantastic lobby - great for a drink after walking all day. And so convenient! In the center of everything! Right by the train station, oldest bar in Edinburgh (or so they claim). I didn’t try the breakfast buffet but a one minute walk got me to The Booking Office - good hot breakfast half the price of London. Would definitely stay here again.

Really liked location.... Easy to access from Airlink bus and to Royal Mile, restaurants, and other attractions. Our room was very clean, spacious, and had a great view. I really liked the pillows...nice and soft! Front desk check in was friendly and efficient. We arrived early and hotel stopped our luggage for us. For first timers to Scotland like me, note that room toiletries do not include lotion, conditioner, or face cloths.

Stylish, modern, staff seems happy to work there. Very helpful and attentive. Quiet rooms comfy beds. The breakfast, wow! Definitely get the breakfast! Highest quality ingredients and vegan options. Right in the heart of town, walking distance to all the sights! Perfect, really.

This review comes a bit late, but better late than ever! I stated at the Motel One Edinburgh Royal at the beginning of November. It’s comfortable, modern, clean and has a great service. I had a problem with my room and they fixed it immediately. The breakfast is amazing! Oh my, you won’t know what to choose! They offer dairy-free and vegan options. Just delicious. The hotel is also very centrally located, so it’s very easy to reach the landmarks. Will stay there again!

Very helpful staff, before the visit by email and whilst there.First room was on one of the upper floors and had a pipe that was faulty and making a loud noise, so I requested a change. The next room was small, dark and at street level next to a passageway. It was also a weird location, up to floor 5 (?) Then through a maze of corridors and then down to level 3 on another lift. It was also cold. When I checked why I couldn't work the heating, the reception apologised and said the heating hadn't been activated in the hotel yet, and they could lend me a blanket or electric heater. I heard 3 other guests speak to reception about how cool it was. This was late September. Think the management needs to rethink their service ideals.Breakfast was OK, but very busy without enough seating.Location is good.

Fantastic location right next to Waverley rail station. And we didn't hear a single train in our room or any traffic. Nice and quiet. The rooms are updated in an older hotel. The continental breakfast has an extensive selection including fresh breads, meats, cheeses, yogurts, fruit, etc.The front desk staff are exceedingly helpful and courteous.Love this place!

For the purpose of efficiency, I'll start with the negative. If you book this hotel expecting a great view of all things historic in Edinburgh. Then I'm afraid disappointment will be your companion. The nearby buildings are far too close for that sort of luxury. Our room was listed as a limited view. This turned out to be a tiny window some 8 feet high-up, which looked onto a wall. The only other negative was that there was very limited channel availability on the in room television.Now for the happier positive elements. The room was extremely clean and modern, and if a reasonable if not expansive size. The reception staff were helpful and dealt with us efficiently. Where the hotel truly shone, though, was the more social elements. The bar area is very contemporary in design, and leather chairs are dangerously comfortable. The bar staff served with a friendly talkative attitude and were very well presented and served delicious beverages. The hotel is also conveniently placed for all tourist related sites / activities. Overall I enjoyed my short stay at this hotel, and would happily recommend it.

Motel One Edinburgh Royal
Location of this hotel is fantastic. Everything is within walking distance, train station , tourist attractions, shopping high street.Check-in was also very smooth. We arrived at 10am and as there are room available we were also allow to checked in earlier.The only complaint that I have is they do not have any air conditioning in the room. The cooling system in our room was also broken during our stay. The staff are very helpful in addressing issue by giving us a fan but I think it's still make more sense to have air conditioning for a 3 star hotel.

We LOVE this hotel! It is centrally located on a charming street. The service is great. The art is inspiring. The breakfast is top notch. The room was nicely sized and comfortable.We were in a remote part of the hotel, and instead of that being a drawback, it was part of its charm! It was an absolute adventure to get there, and we loved it.I only ever want to stay at Motel Ones! Motel One, please come to America!
