A truly special place...perfect for a silent retreat and woodland walks. I have enjoyed being a guest at the monastery for over 15 years and have enjoyed my visits every time. The liturgy is fantastic!

I recently spent a few days with the community at Crawley Down Monestary. The accommodation is really nice and the food, excellent. Father's Colin, Peter & Chris are warm and very welcoming.I spent my time reading books from their extensive library, walking in their lovely woods, and joining in with the daily prayers in the chapel. I thoroughly enjoyed the silence and feeling of inner peace I experienced during my stay. I was able to slow my mind down and let my spiritual side take over, which was wonderfully liberating. I highly recommend a stay or visit to anyone, and I very much look forward to my next stay. A very special place, not only to visit, but to experience.

A few years ago, I spent a few days in retreat at the monastery; the gracious guest master shared with me the need for complete silence in and around the religious house and guest quarters. This indisputably was a place where I could listen to the voice of God without intrusion. Hushed woods stretched in one direction interspersed by huts for hermits or retreatants? I never did find out. In the other direction a lake lay in blue serenity. The Liturgy and offices in the chapel were cloaked in Eastern chants and Orthodox incense. The psalms and silence were perfect as a means to search for the Lord. Stern ikons looked down on one wherever one went. At holy communion all members of the community came together, monks, nuns, eremitical persons and guests. The meals were vegetarian and were simple and nutritious. Enough to keep body and soul together. It was haymaking time and both the monks and nuns answered the call to make hay whist the sun shone. Such were their labours that the evening repass was foregone. As my time of monastic solitude came to an end, the Father Superior made himself available for ghostly counsel.I had indeed been a part of a little Mount Athos for a short while.

Respectful silence, a prayer-soaked atmosphere, and unhurried, regular times of worship here slows time and helps you focus on what matters most: God. Comfortable rooms, nice food and lovely people.

If you are looking for a place to find silence and peace, do not hesitate to come to this holy place. Simple, but comfortable accommodation, splendid food, plenty of walks in the woods surrounding the monastery- you find total bliss if you need/ want to be alone and have space and time to breathe, think or pray.My thanks to the community for welcoming me so kindly.

I did a week here of quiet retreat in 2018. It was a very peaceful and holy time with God. This is the perfect place for getting away from the hustle and bustle of modern life and finding quiet space for reflection, for contemplation, for meditation and for study. The accommodation is simple and homely. The hospitality is generous and kind. The open space and the woods and the river give you space to reflect and pray in nature contemplating the wonder of God's creation. Thanks to the brothers for their welcome and warm spirit. I also enjoyed the times of worship (orthodox spirituality). My background is Evangelical but I greatly appreciated the liturgy and the worship. I am seeking to make this a regular retreat. And have recommended to all.

If you want to explore silence against a backdrop of forest , daily mass and a warm Christian hospitality, then this could be just for you!The spirituality here is genuine and powerful . There is the opportunity to stay as a guest and there is even the possibility to stay longer as an along sider" and get a taste of monastic life .Either way

The Community of the Servants of the Will of God is a hidden treasure. It has a vision of all things gathering together in Christ in which the visible unity of Christians, east and west is paramount. With that vision there is a hands on commitment to worship and the discipline of Christian life in which the Jesus Prayer of Orthodoxy plays an important part. I have been visiting the Monastery at Crawley Down for 20 years and have received much guidance and inspiration from CSWG. The situation of the Monastery hidden away in the forest is provocative of spiritual deepening.
