Phase One Project
Phase one project is one of the best hostels I have lived in. The standard of the rooms and communal areas is very high. The building is maintained well and the service charge very reasonable. All of the staff here at Phase one are putting a lot of effort into a hard to find ecology which makes them some commendable people because they are prepared to look first at peoples emotional needs by targeting specific problems before anything else such as housing advice associated with moving on, confidence building and help with any illness or disability we have, is provided. One of the most refreshing things I came across was noticing that some residents had talents and skills which they hadn't had the chance to explore before they moved in here. It's very heart-warming to be able to come into contact with fellow residents who get a chance here to pursue their own goals and obtain a decent head-start with literacy and numeracy sessions if they need them followed by life skills coaching during what I beleive is a six months course resulting in an in-house certificate being provided to each resident who completes it. Staff have been very helpful towards residents in making sure that we could pursue our goals we had when we came here aswell. My circumstances were that I was a man who became homeless following a flooding incident whereby the home I previously occupied became uninhabitable. I was pleased to move to somewhere better and well run like Phase one where residents have access to a computer room that's really well equipped with Dell i3's Personal computers. I had no problem creating and publishing my own web-site using solely the computers here and the software already provided by the BHT IT department on the Dell PC's which was so useful for one reason alone which was saving me the initial cost of buying and maintaining a computer myself when I moved in here. In my spare time I am running an online support group for female victims of electronic stalking offenses. I created my own website using solely the computers here which are well equipped and even though the hostel is medium sized with fifty two residents there is always computer time available. Staff are kind because they provide support straightaway because there are always enough staff members on duty to step in to provide assistance. In most cases if we need a plaster or have a problem we've caused ourselves they don't mind and IMO have gone that extra mile. I have found the staff to be very honest and bearing excellent advice I would be lost without today . Phase one staff again do a great job of making sure that residents receive encouragement to pursue their goals while maintaining contact with them at regular intervals which helps a very lot. The staff are hard working people who have let residents decide about any changes that they wish to make to things like how the hostel is run, deciding which meals suit them most, including help with special diets, and planning activities like cinema trips and local table tennis tournaments which are always popular and valuable social events. These events give residents with different levels of ability or who's life experiences might have, in the past maybe, created challenges for them, to chose a newer approach that's worked well for others but one that's definitely tailored for them, and centered around them re-gaining their independence which is an ethos that Bright Housing Trust (BHT), who run this hostel has who also run two other successful independent projects in Brighton. verdict 10/10!

Phase One Project
Drug dealing, constant chaos, fights over drugs and chaos in the street daily. Very disappointing the lack of respect for residents on the street.
